The Tai Chai is a moderate gain overdrive/low gain distortion, thick and smooth sounding but not overly bassy, dark, or trebly. I really, really like it. I used it as my "fat" overdrive with an MXR Super Badass distortion for high gain, an MXR Il Torino for low gain, and the Tai Chi for fat/rich mid gain sounds. see less

This thing is a great bass pedal. It has some good adjustment options and, as the gain increases, providing a "half way / method" interrupts the speed I am looking for. Turning it on is easy to achieve complete distortion, but never ruin it. More like mxr m80. The milk is more intense. Deeper. The bass on the disc is not completely lost ... this is great! The unit did not notice too much ... it was very transparent. I am very satisfied with that.

This is not everyone's speeding, but for me, I like it. It has the best light overload sound I get with my equipment. It is suitable for tubular screaming and can also be used as an intensifier. The graphics look great and look great. It took me about 2-3 weeks to come here, the follow-up did not exist, but it was very well packed and did a good job on the fly. In addition to shipping problems, it has many advantages. I like this pedal that my Caline Blue Sky (a little not so good). These are less and less, and in fact I could get the second before it's too late.

This is a very usable overdrive with a wide range of capabilities. It is not going to stack up against a $200 pedal, but the difference in price is not proportional to the difference in quality. It might take some tweaking to dial in a decent tone, and you can't expect it to sound amazing as soon as you plug it in. Take the time to sweep the settings to see how it reacts to your gear, and you will have a very nice, adaptable overdrive on your hands for an amazing price.

This is an oddball overdrive but it sounds cool. It's just very different sounding than most other overdrive. The closest I would say it sounds to us maybe a current DOD 250 Reissue. It has that kind of fuzz type overdrive. I wouldn't recommend it as your first overdrive but if you already have a classic sounding overdrive then this is a nice one to add to your sound if you want something that sounds different.

This is an amazing pedal for the price- it sounds like a lot of low to medium gain boutique pedals that cost 4 times as much, even capturing some of the Zendrive vibe. I knocked one point off because the input jack does not hold some cables very securely. Normally I'd just take the back panel off and bend the jack contacts a little bit but the back is plastic and I don't want to break it trying to pry it off.

This is a very versatile overdrive pedal. I use it for Classic Rock and it captures some nice vintage overdrive tones without getting "fuzzacious". Adds some bite but doesn't become slushy. It complements my tube screamer, soul food, and big muff nicely. I would order them from harshest to cleanest as tube screamer, big muff, tai chi, and then the soul food (Klon clone). It is a different sound than those pedals and fits nicely on the pedal board as another sonic option. The first song I used it on is the solo in Don't Fear the Reaper and it does a good job adding the attack and bite needed for that song.

This is a great pedal. Very warm and musical. Well built and looks cool on my board. The sound ranges from overdrive to heavy distortion. It doesn't really make it into metal territory, but will do hard rock. I put an EHX Soul food in front of it and I turn up the gain on the soul food pedal if I need more distortion. I would describe the result as a very warm and musical distortion, where a lot of other pedals can get pretty nasty and dissonant - which is fine if that's what you're looking for, just not my style. I especially appreciate the tightness in the low end. It is not loose or muddy at all. Great low end definition. Palm muted strumming is very crisp and percussive. For the price, this thing is killer. I may get another one just to have a backup.

This pedal is realy good ! Because it's not an regular overdrive pedal it's unique. It acts as a preamp saturation. I have a lot of pedals (Boss, Wampler, EHX, etc) but this one definitively has a place in my pedalboard ! Using it alone you can get a cool tube saturation OD. In front of other OD pedals you increase the punch and the sustain in a very cool way. The only consideration: The tone knob at 12:00 gives you a warmer tone. I use it all way to the right to get the same tone as the guitar.
