With the wide applications of semiconductor cooling, more and more DIY enthusiasts are interested in it. It's a question that how to make refrigerating capacity to a more great extent in water cooling applications. This DIY kit could be just to your taste.

Features:
Adopt 2pcs TEC1-12706 semiconductor chilling plate, good quality for use.
Complete sealed structure, isolating the moisture in the air.
Higher reliability than others.
Include 2*TEC1-12706, 2*conduction module, 1*water block, 2*fans, 2*thermal grease, 1*base board and a pack of screws.
Lightweight and mini in size, easy to install.
Great DIY kit for electronic enthusiasts in semiconductor cooling applications.

Note:
1. The conduction cool module can frost when the temperature is under -25°C.
2. TEC1-12706: one side with words is the refrigeration side, the other side is heat dissipation side.
3. Must install heat sink or water-cooled radiator on the heat dissipation side; otherwise will burn the Peltier.

4. The DC power is not included in this kit, please prepare it by yourself.

Q

Strange question can i use this to heat water not cool it ?

A
  • Yes you can. If you flip over the 2 Peltier coolers, then the heat sink on both sides will get cold and the water will get warm.

Q

How many cubic feet is this estimated to keep cool? And can this be used outside with a solar panel?

A
  • I don't know if you can find a solar panel and output controller that will work reliably with the thermoelectric cooler and fans. The coolers operate at anything above 4 volts. I'm using it to cool 0.5 gallons of vacuum pump oil. I don't know the ultimate temp I will get. Q

What size is the water inlet and outlet?

A
  • This water inlet and outlet are barbed and sized for clear plastic water tubing with inside diameter of 1/4” (8mm) and will probably have an outside diameter of 3/8”. This is not to be confused with water tubing for compression fittings which is also “1/4 inch tubing” but has 1/4” OUTSIDE diameter. … see more This water inlet and outlet are barbed and sized for clear plastic water tubing with inside diameter of 1/4” (8mm) and will probably have an outside diameter of 3/8”. Interesting design note: 1/4 (outside diameter) water tubing fits snuggly inside 1/4 (inside diameter) clear tubing allowing you to transition to compression fittings based water systems. see less

This kit is well thought out. If you are using a high powered PSU, you will want to experiment with the amount of power you are giving the TEC because with these heatsinks, you will not be getting the optimal heat exchange from the hot side, so the middle will not cool down that much and the heatsinks will get very hot. I experimented and found that about 65% power applied from my PSU was getting the cooling block to a good temperature. If you accidentally install the TEC backwards and don't want to fuss with getting it back together in the right order, simply reverse the polarity of the TEC and you will reverse the hot side of the chip.
