The head should take the v3 plate because it’s square but the heads plate will probably not latch to the peak design.

About 15 - 20 pounds. It is very sturdy. Also, suggest a drop or two of 3 in 1 oil for all moving parts. I like it because it flips from horizontal to vertical.

You might be able to do the same and attach some kind of narrow piping or metal tubing with industrial strength glue, like JB Weld, but it won't be easy or pretty, just functional. see less

I am a professional photographer who owns Manfrotto tripods, but also inexpensive ones for when I go into the wilderness backpacking/trekking to take photographs of nature. I wanted something that works decently enough without breaking the bank for when I go travel so I would not have to worry much about theft. I decided to give this ball head a try because it is far lighter (and cheaper) than my Manfrotto one, and the verdict? It works decently well. PROS - Quick-release plate - Fits standard tripods and Manfrotto - Built-in bubble level - Light - Inexpensive

Very good for what I need it for. Smooth movement. I have this mounted permanently on the desk and love how you can really tighten up the tilts. Would have like to have a more secure mounting plate with a locking nut. The only other downside is that once you mount a large enough camera on the plate, it becomes hard to access some of the tightening nuts.
