Have changed/reversed receivers/transmitter and flashes every possible way but still the same Group B fire 1/1. Turn on some light in the room and it works again. Making a hard reset on any YN622C (press Channel and Group selector simultaneously and hold) make it work in the "dark", one time then its back to Group B faults. Set to "ALL" no problems. Group A:B + C works but i have only tried with one flash in A:B, and dont remember if I tried booth A and B group on the reciver. This problem when its "dark" doesn't occur on the 60D I've tried it on. But overall one have to bump it 3/4 to 1 stop to get the same light as Canon "normal". Manual it seems to work as it should. My YN622C is marked "2014 Dec". earlier versions did have som sorts of other issues. Check out http://photography-on-the.net for better Manual than the accompanying Youngnuo manual. see less

How does ETTL compare to ITTL?

I'm planning of buying Canon ST-E3-RT after borrowing it to test it with my Canon 600ex RT (Amazing). Will this Yongnuo do exactly what ST-E3-RT do?

A
  • The comments about the 622 are correct. However, there is an additional option: the 622C-TX. This transmitter (only) unit is designed to be an alternative to the ST-E3-RT. Q

will this work with my vivitar df-583

A
  • Don't know much about Vivitar Flashes but I doubt it. The flash (it self) would have to be ETTL of course but there are two models of the 622 C & N 1 for Cannon and 1 for Nikon your best bet would be to purchase a Yongnuo 565 EX flash also (about $105.00). Now I have five of these big little triggers. Easy to configure, it can be activated for the first time at all times and the communication with the camera is impeccable. I only stayed for a short time, so the jury is still not sure of its longevity? If I have any questions about these triggers, I can install them in flash. The connection is a little tight and you should make sure the flash is completely closed. I hope it gets softer over time.

These are great! I used to have Pocket Wizards, but it seems they never do what I want. Now that I have these, they are amazing! Better reach and better grouping control. Why spend $ 500 + on the Pocket Wizard to control 3 lights? I bought two of them, they did better than the pocket assistant.

I've been using these triggers for a few weeks and I like them! There are no problems with fire. I haven't tried the full frame yet, but I haven't had any problems with the various shots I've used so far. I recommend these!

I have been using Yongnuo products for some time, including their flashes and triggers. They are well structured and will continue to improve. I don't want to spend money on Pocket Wizards, so I'm always looking for an alternative at a reasonable price. I bought two games and mixed them with the Canon 580s and the Yongnuo flash. They work perfectly with my 5D Mk III. They can be easily controlled through the camera menu. I haven't tried HSS sync yet. The only thing that the 603 trigger does not have is the ability to shoot the camera remotely. Therefore, I will keep 603 to perform remote camera activation. If you use a portable flash for a lot of work, these are bombs!

A small fraction of the total price ettl. Shoot these triggers in the 5D mkiii of the wedding. At first, his flash was not correct, all my shots exploded, but I realized that it was necessary to push the flash deeper into the shoe until the second time.

I use this product with the Canon 5D MKIII and Speedlite 600ex-rt. This is a cheaper solution than buying a Canon RF transmitter or buying a Pocket Wizard. The external flash control menu on the camera controls everything through the RF transceiver, just like the flash is in the shoe. You can configure three different groups to complete my work. Overall, I have a good experience with this product.

If you want to start with off camera flash and don't want to spend the money on something like a pocket wizard, I think this is a good option. picking channels/groups is easy. easy on off switch. the only time I have had an issue with it not firing a flash was then the flash was still charging. I have not tried pushing the distance limits as I have not found the need to trigger a flash further than 10-15ft.

You will need to make sure you understand your camera off camera flash settings prior to trying to set these up. They are very easy to use if your camera is set up correctly.

***PROS*** -Reliable -Easy to use -Capable -ETTL -IR focus assist -Sturdy -Lightweight -Great range (Mine have successfully fired every time at about 50 yards through two walls, I had no need to test its limits any further) ***CONS*** -Manual isn't very helpful, you will have to tinker on your own or gather useful tips from other owners. -A little bulky ***OVERALL*** At this point in time, you can't find an ETTL transceiver/receiver that balances price and performance so well. The functionality of these units is up there with the big boys like pocket wizard, but the cost is more comparable to a radio or ir transceiver. I could not recommend these units more.
