Once you start walking on the base, and press start button, it should come on so you can adjust speed. It doesn't come on until you start walking for safety reasons. Also, make sure the magnet with the red string is positioned properly on the yellow circle. It will not work without magnet attached to console.

I have used it for 15 days and it works great. I walk on it every day for 30 minute. I hope it will last throughout my pregnancy. The only problem is that the belt wouldn't not stay in the middle. It slides a little bit to left or right. But that's not a big problem since it does not affect your exercise and can be fixed easily.

We needed a treadmill to fit a small space in our condo. We checked several brands and chose the Tomshoo because of the high ratings. When it arrive the assembly instructions could have been a bit clearer, once we turn it on we were pleased. A month in and we are very pleased. It fits the limited space we allotted to it, it runs well at the speeds we need, and more important, this is probably the quietest treadmill we have ever owned. This turned out to be exactly what we wanted.

I was surprised that I actually liked this as much as I do. Is it sort of cheap quality? Obviously it is....that's why it's only like $200! But does it do it's job and let me walk successfully and break a good sweat? ABSOLUTELY! :) There are no fancy bells and whistles and you can't adjust the incline and it doesn't have a fancy display. The two cup holders are too small for all of my shaker cups so they're useless. It beeps loudly when it's turned on and off and when you change the speed. If you're severely overweight, I would not recommend this to you. I'm about 120 pounds and 5'2 so it works perfectly for me. I've ran on it a few times and it does what it's supposed to do. It's a tad shaky but I think that was my fault for not putting it together better. If you're looking for a state of the art treadmill, this is not it. If you're looking for something to get your leisurely walking and steps in for your Fitbit, this is your guy right here!
