I was impressed with this little machine and what you receive with it. it's inexpensive so anyone expecting the performance of a 10,000 dollar machine is a fool. Sorry. I was able to etch on wood, vinyl, and cardboard very nicely. You have to practice with different settings for the different materials. BUT I did have a lot of problems connecting to the machine initially until I figured out the trick. Following instructions didn't work. SO what I found, on a Windows machine, is that you disconnect the power to the machine, connect the USB first to it and your computer until you hear the sound from Windows indicating successful connection. Then you connect the power to the machine. Now click the CONNECT button in the software. The software is very basic and sometimes that is best. No need to install software as it's a simple executable file. I've printed now about a dozen prints/etches in 3 days and I have high respect for the machine. I just hope the laser lasts. Remember to adjust the DEPTH to account for the different materials. Some claim it is SLOW! Well my friends this is NOT a high end industrial machine AND the laser power is perfect for home use. The speed actually is good and reasonable depending on the print. I LOVE the fact that you just put the machine ON the item you want to etch. So you can pretty much put it on anything and etch vs. having to insert the material in the machine which limits the size. I've etched on some furniture I had built. If you just want to play and have fun with a machine to try out laser etching then I don't think you can go wrong. One note, be careful with the plugs and be very gently and keep disconnected when not in use so you don't bump them or tug on them and damage the plugs. Amazing price for this machine to help everyone try it out.
