Plain and simple, it works and you'll need it for your YN900. While the YN900 DOES take batteries...you'll need a ton of them to make it through any event of any any length. Better to grab this and just deal with the need for AC power ...or settle for the YN600. A little bummed this was required for the YN900 and that it's DIFFERENT than the one for the yn600/300. However, it's pretty easy to understand when you see just how much more light the yn900 puts out.

A power supply is one of those things -- it either works, or it doesn't. In this case, it works perfectly with the YN-900 lights I have. I can't tell you how many Sony video batteries I have -- and there are never enough. The YN-900 does pretty well for battery life when running at relatively low power. But crank up into the 90+ range so the fan comes on, and you're eating batteries like an Indica-fueled frat boy with the munchies. Sooner or later you want to just plug 'em in -- and for that purpose, this is what you want.
