All in all, if you keep it close, it's easy to setup and program your different models and features. For a couple of drones or helicopters, if you keep them close and set your failsafe settings, it's fine. But, if you're flying RC Airplanes, stay within about 100 yards. I lost my first 2 airplanes, even after a range check. Once it gets beyond 100 yards, whatever you have your failsafe settings, that's what happens. I had fresh batteries in both receiver and transmitter, and I wasn't expecting this to happen because I'd read that others had used it on a drone for 3km (about 2 miles). Unfortunately, 2 separate incidents involved loss of plane in both cases. So, if you're flying RC planes, spend the money on a better radio.

Personally, I believe this is the best beginner FPV drone radio. I wish it had a rechargeable battery inside because it drains the 4 AA batteries needed to use the radio supper fast. Besides that complain the radio is perfect if you just want to fly your drone in the park without having to learn a lot about how to fly.

I have a FS-i6 and I suspected it was having problems, so I bought this newer model. Wow, so much better, this X series adds more features and it all still works great. Only bummer is they dont provide any way for me to transfer the 14 models I am using so I have to re-bind and hand manual copy each settings from my older i6 to this i6x, but it will be worth it for sure.
