This is a great little headphone amp! I'm using it to add a headphone port for my tube integrated amplifier which only has speaker outputs. The sound is clear & undistorted and there's plenty of volume available for any headphone I choose to plug in. I was expecting a larger unit based on the Amazon description of 5" x 7" - but that's the package size. The actual unit is only 2.25" x 4" so it deserves the "ultra-compact" label. This microamp has a quality feel; everything plugs in firmly and the volume controls are silky smooth. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to add a headphone port to their audio system.

Using in the car with a regulated 12 volt power supply (Phimore Regulated Mobile Auto/Marine DC-DC Power Converter, 3-6-9-12 VOLTS DC; BE19) and AmazonBasics Lightweight On-ear Headphones. No heat issues with the unit, more than enough volume with the Basics headphones, much better than expected sound from inexpensive headphones. A great combination.

This was perfect! I needed something so my older kids could watch TV at night without it keeping me awake upstairs. The TV doesn't have an earphone jack but it does have a pre-amp RCA outlet. This micro-amp connected with a cord also purchased from Amazon. Using 1/4-inch to 3.5 mm adapters I now have four handy headphone outlets that can be used. Volume is controlled at the amp so everyone listens at the level they prefer. To top it off, they all agree the sound is awesome through headphones rather than the speakers. Everybody is happy now.
