Ample light, in a horizontal bar that can light up a whole keyboard, not just one spot in a corner of the keyboard. I often type in the middle of the night, and my monitor doesn't give much light downward, so I plugged this into the USB port on the monitor, and hide the light bar behind the monitor, facing down.
