It probably depends on the size and shape of your kayak or canoe. The elastic seems to be a bungee-type material that is very stretchy; but, has high return strength. It probably will seal well. The product description has it listed as 14.76ft. I have an Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 and it's 13 feet long. That said, the cover fits pretty snug from front to rear. I just went out and tried to stretch it to 14ft and it's not going there. So their measurements might have been 14ft before they tailored it.
