Hi from what I know, you can set it for manual setting or motion detection. You can make the changes by pressing the "OK Key enter into main menu and choose. The first Icon is Manual and the 2nd is motion. Choose Master Ch. to set it. You can figure the rest, just play with it . Good Luck ! Mr.G

I have these they work great 1 channel can be continuing recording and the other channel takes a snapshot every 1 second a full 24 hours is about 8gb on all max settings so it will record for days of driving and you take the card out and put it in your computer to playback it's much easier all folders and files are very neatly labeled

I think that everyone complaining about the quality of this product is not using it to its full potential. I have basically bought and used every small 1 or 2ch DVR there is. Quality is much better using 1ch. D1 is a 702 resolution and combined with a 700 to 1000 TVL resolution security camera and proper Infrared lights it does a very good job. Most cameras people buy are usually 420 Res lines which puts out a poor quality that's grainy and dark especially when there isn't a proper Infrared light system connected to it. Learn your product before you buy, the camera and Infrared can be the difference between poor quality video and great quality for its size. I am a seasoned 17 year veteran in the Paranormal field of "Ghost Hunting". Quality is very important to me in capturing clear and precise images in the total darkness. So read a little and educate yourself about security cameras. The most important thing to remember is that the canister size the camera is inside of means absolutely nothing about the quality. Ive taken hundreds of cameras apart and the majority are empty except for the Camera board and lens that are basically 1 1/2 x 2'' in size the rest is empty space behind it.

1. The kit contains all the wires and connectors you need. 2. Runs with no problems on 9V battery. 3. I updated mine to 'start recording on power-up', so it starts recording when I start the car. 4. Can be mounted in non visible place, so you don't have to hide it every time you leave the car. 5. Motion detection.

I have this and it works great, I use it as one of many recording devices in my vehicle and it holds up and does a great job. I do also recommend getting some strong velcro to put on the back that way you can place it where you want and it will stay on and come off when you want. put it out of sight and keep it out of mind. records great and will record from two different cameras.

This is not a toy, its the real deal and I really like it. I use mine at our ranch. Its hooked up to our 12V solar panel / inverter system. You need less then 25 watts to run this with two IR cameras so I recommend a 50 watt panel to have power night and day. I recommend buying one of those tiny monitors to help with programing. It will make life easier. I had problems turning on and off the motion sensor but after completely programing it everything worked. The record quality is comparable to my home DVR; its not great but will do. I find it easier to take out the card and pop it into the card reader in my laptop to view files but with a tiny monitor and learning the buttons you can view them right from the unit. If you think about it this unit is not that cheep. Its about the same price as an 8 channel home DVR which is better quality and can do way more. Most home DVRs are also 12V but require more energy. Evaluate your needs before choosing. I wanted low energy consumption so went with this but really this unit should not cost more then $30. This would also be great in a 4 channel. Check out my video of Spider(man). 26/04/15: The unit no longer keeps correct time or date. I wonder if it has an internal battery that needs changing?
