I've Googled this matter and don't have a certain answer. Apparently, some MIM Jazz basses have compound radius necks of late, some have 12" radii, but many are at the traditional 9.5. Apparently, some MIM Jazz basses have compound radius necks of late, some have 12" radii, but many are at the traditional 9.5. Prior to obtaining the gauges, I set string height to roughly match the radius at the heel of the neck and lowered the action slightly lower than I needed, then raised each string as needed to avoid buzzing. Matching the neck heel radius with the gauge makes that just a bit easier. see less
