Every once in a great while you get exactly what your looking for... this is one of those. Now I cannot speak for longevity as I just got it... but it appears to be well made. This product is just another example why I love my Mac... plug it in, and it works... perfectly. I bought if for my wife so she can now practice using Garage Band to learn how to play her electric guitar. Easy, easy, easy... just make sure you have a spare USB port...

I recently purchased this item despite all the negative reviews that were given. From a technical standpoint this item is very easy to use and extremely easy to set up. I'm running Win 7 64 and set up took less than a minute. I think that the issues that most customers are having is the software that's being used. I personally haven't tried the GuitarRig software that's provided but I'm using Amplitube 3 and with a few tweaks on the driver settings this thing is absolutely amazing. I have numerous amps and cabs in the palm of my hands! I definately recommend this product to those who want a quick amp replacement (however, does not replace an actual amp). For less than $20 this item is amazing. Do not listen to all the reviews unless you try it for yourself and if the item doesn't work for you, just return it. In a nutshell 5 stars and two thumbs up!

I just sold my Tascam US-1641 audio interface as I lost my drums and didn't need multiple inputs. I was skeptical due to the reviews on this product but after the initial hassle of getting it to work, I'm very pleased with the results. I don't notice any difference with my guitar compared to the $300 Tascam I was using (I use Reaper and Guitar Rig mostly). I'm on Windows 8.1 x64 and downloaded the drivers from behringer's website. I had to make sure everything was set to 48khz in order to get it to work without crackling but once I got it setup initially it has worked flawlessly. I didn't even have to disable the regular windows devices like others mentioned, I can actually play winamp and use my ASIO apps at the same time although I wouldn't rely on that as even the more expensive interfaces can have issues there (my tascam for one). People who need phantom power for a mic should look into the cheap behringer USB mixers, I was on the fence between this product and that one but decided $10 was worth it to find out if this worked and I'm happy with my purchase.

I could be wrong but this is possibly the cheapest guitar USB product with analogue to digital capabilities out there, only beaten by the simple 1/4 jack to USB cable. I have two of these units that I have been using for years so I know pretty much most of what you can expect. First, you get the interface with headphone and guitar in sockets and attached USB cable and a mini disc with Guitar Rig 2 and drivers; both of mine have a blank space where the serial number should be (not good). There is a hi/lo level - use low for when your input signal is a bit powerful (when using as a VST in a music writing program to avoid "clipping"). Installation. I have both WinXP home 32bit and Windows7 64bit and it works on both computers. You need to install the drivers first and then the ASIO driver. Unlike other reviewers, I did find all the required software was there. Finally you install Guitar Rig 2 and this is where the problems start. It is no straight-forward matter to get the ASIO drivers and the MIDI ports to all work together and even though I have installed this equipment a few times I still get frustrated getting it up and running what with drivers not taking straight away and the MIDI not seeing the i/p and o/p routing. It is a pain but a bit of messing and it DOES work. Patience and experimenting is the key - there is a help file but it is a bit limited. If it works but sounds like a bag of poo then you still have to alter the ASIO samplerate and System Performance settings to FAST. If you haven't smashed it yet and it works then you are rewarded with a very reasonable audio interface. I have recently begun to feel that some of the guitar signal is lost on the way to the computer so presets without reverb or a lot of presence sound a bit flat. Guitar Rig 2 is a bit dated these days but there are still some good sounds in there. Guitar Rig can be used as a stand-alone effects unit for guitar practice - or much more importantly, as a VST (virtual instrument) for use in your fave music writing program like Cukos' Reaper DAW. If you play guitar but have not yet used a program like Guitar Rig as a VST you have missed a world of creativity. I have written too much so I will sum up. This unit, for what it is, is a bargain but requires some patience setting up. It will produce some great sounds but not to hi-end studio levels. The Guitar Rig 2 software is excellent and is the full package. You won't find better value than this and for getting your shred fix or trying out new ideas it is just the job, but you will find you want to spend more for a more professional sound if you are a serious musician.
