      I have the more expensive model that seems the make a little hotter spark but that doesn't matter with the magnesium. This cheaper one lights it up just fine in my backyard after a heavy rain storm. I use a different striker though for better results. Either a carbide sharpner (the kind you use for garden tools one of the best options in my experience) or a knife with a nice 90 degree angle on the spine. The striker that comes with it works just fine just doesn't scrape as consistent or as large chunks. This is an awesomely affordable version of one of my favorite type of two handed fire starters. Plus you can scrape the wood handle in a pinch :)
