Hi. I bought this and used it in January, it seemed to have about a 3ft detection distance based on my digging. I used it while snorkeling so a bit limited versus scuba.

I am sure this would pick up a gold ring however this product is bad the first one I had worked two times then the vibration stopped. I then returned it and re-purchased another one and the same problem I used it one time and the vibration stopped working I would not suggest this particular product

My husband lost his wedding ring at the beach in about 5 feet of very murky lake water. We for sure thought it was gone for good. I bought this item and a sand scoop and held a prayer that we'd get lucky and find it. Not only did this little gem work completely submerged under over 5 feet of water in the Mississippi River but it indeed did find his lost wedding band. This metal detector is very easy to use and does in fact work very well. I highly recommend it if you're looking to try to find something you lost or go searching for fun.

Bought this detector and shortly there after a buddy lost his wedding ring so had a good opportunity to use it. After an hour and 20 minutes of use at 20 feet I can tell you that it works as advertised. We didn’t find the ring (probably fell in a crack between the rocks and out of range) but we did find a lot of items both ferrous and nonferrous. The detector can find a penny size object at about 3” which is pretty much as expected. I down graded the detector for 2 reasons: 1) The big reason first. The unit seals the battery compartment by means of a bolt passing through a rubber stopper, through a large fender washer and into a knob. Turning the knob pulls on the bolt squeezing the stopper between the bolt end and the washer. As the stopper is squeezed it expands and seals the end of the tube. You must hold the washer stationary to keep the whole thing from spinning so you can obtain a good seal. Problem is the washer and knob are about the same size and on top of each other making tightening the whole thing very difficult. So getting a proper seal is a real challenge. A simple tab extending from the washer would solve the problem. 2) The detector uses a tilt switch internal to the unit for turning the detector on and off. Great idea as no external switch reduces the chance of flooding however, it also leads to turning the detector off or on inadvertently while attached to your BCD. End result is burning up battery power with an inadvertent on. It’s a good detector for the price and would be great with a simple fix to sealing the battery compartment.

This just arrived yesterday to take this with me to Jamaica for a little searching on the beach in the water. This is made by “Treasure Products”, their name is on the instructions, I am thinking it is the same electronics as the Vibratector. The LED light on this is very bright and will be easily seen when using it and the vibration will be easily felt. It is a Pulse Induction machine that gives a solid signal detecting my wedding ring from the tip of my finger while it was still on. I would say this is about 4” which to me, since I am not going to be using a scoop it is perfect. It feels sturdy. I may coat the bottom of the coil when I return with Epoxy to protect it some more if it works well. It takes 9volt batteries and I plan on taking 3. I hope to post pictures of my finds and Trip here.
