This replaced a gas operated one. It was heavy and my arms hurt when done using it. Well, this Red Works electric trimmer is light and easy to maneuver. Power lasts about an hour. I may get an extra battery to switch out after that first hour. We have a half acre so there is plenty to whack!

Love how lightweight this is. At 5’1” tall, it can be hard for me to use some lawn equipment, but I have no problem with this trimmer. It is sturdy but light, does the job well and is easy to use. The string is easy to pull out, too. The battery lasts about 25 minutes and charges pretty quickly, too. I also have a lawnmower from this company which I love and is the reason I purchased the trimmer too. 86 people found this helpful

The cutting 'whip' is as good as is found on engine-powered products. The battery life performed better than expected, realizing that if you 'wade into' some serious brush its charge will be drained faster. When doing 'close trimming' in the garden, its maneuverability and light weight make easy work of it.

I bought this to replace my aging weed trimmer. The battery was dying and barely lasted 5 mins, and the power was horrible. Once I got this, it was like a whole different ball game. This trimmer is very very powerful, and can also be used as an edge trimmer, which I find very useful. I am amazed at how well it cuts weeds, and I am very happy I bought it. It's a little heavier than my precious, and only seems to last about maybe 30 mins total, which isn't that long in my memory compared to my old one when I first got it. Either way, this is a very good purchase, you will not be disappointed.

Whether longevity will play out or not I don't yet know but this along with the blower makes it easy for my father to go out and do some trimming and blowing without dragging out the old corded devices that are heavier than these. So far I ran both thru their paces and the battery lasted for almost an hour, enough to get the job done. Been looking for a second battery but prices seem to be almost that of the tools themselves, that would be my only complaint so far.

I have downsized my home and my 20 year old Toro finally died. This trimmer is perfect for my small yard. Very impressed with the power! The trimmer line that comes with it is honestly the best I've ever used. Very durable. The edger function works great for my needs. This is my first battery yard tool. I was skeptical as I was transitioning from a very powerful gas trimmer that was used heavily for a 5 acre yard to this greenworks unit. Battery life is good for my needs. I use it 3 times for my trimming needs before it needs charged. Basically 3 weeks. Now all that said if I was at my old home, I'm not sure if it would be big enough. For a home in a plan with a medium size lot it is perfect! One thing to be aware of is you have to manually extend the cord once it wears down. I honestly dont mind this as it keeps it from wasting the line. This is not a bump feed system. Its very easy to add more line, you just have to do it manually.

I have used gas and corded units and was wondering how this would do. Last night I charged up the battery and this morning took it out for a run in thick 6-8" growth. Started in the front yard doing areas the mower did not reach than hit the heavy stuff in the back yard. Grass was wet in the hard to reach areas the battery lasted for around 40 min which I feel real good about and know it will last longer as I can keep up on the yards better now. Bonus was able to reach under parked cars that we have on the property. Also love the ability to edge the walks on the fly just reach down and click and twist trim than click and twist and keep going. Comes with a 43wh battery I may get a 86wh battery for the extra battery range. All in all I was very happy on performance and it also was easy to put together the handle pole slips together and fully adjustable so is the handle, the guard is held with 3 screws also the guard wire slips on and can be removed easy. Comes with a extra line spool and cap and the line is .065" and strong.

I don't know why I waited so long... I've had an electric string trimmer for awhile now, and put up with dragging the cord around with me everywhere... If I had known how much easier it is to do my lawn trimming with this thing, I never would have bought the corded one at all. I have a fairly large lawn, with lots of trimming to do, around gardens etc, and the battery has never run out on me. Also, the 24v model is plenty powerful enough to use for most normal lawn trimming.

The trimmer works great! Light weight compared to gas trimer also much easier to start just press the trigger. It does have a safety that has to be depressed and it is in somewhat of bad location. Also you have to keep pressing the safety to keep it running. The battery has I think a short life span and needs to be recharge often depending on the size of area one is working. The good news is the battery charge fast! This is a self-feed stringer, no bumping to increase string. Just stop and start the unit to increase string. This is a great trimer say for the home owner but not for commercial. I have tried this unit on some tough weed and it seems to handle the job but I would use a gas trimmer job for such weeds.

Initially I had a delivery issue but the seller resolved the issue right away. I sent an email and immediately I received a response. Now that I have the unit, I like it, very lightweight, easy to use. The battery does not last very long but enough to get done what I want the unit to do. The charging process for the battery is quick so your ready to use the unit in a short time.

I begged my husband for months to get me a battery weed eater/ edger because our gas one is too heavy for me to hold for long. This little thing is great for me! The battery will last long enough to go around our back fence, swingset, front flowerbeds, and edge the driveway without dying. My only complaint is that the line seems pretty thin and I haven't had the best luck with the autofeed feautre, but it's not a deal-breaker for me because the yard gets done and my husband doesn't have to wear himself out after work to do it.

I bought this to use in my community garden where I don't have an electrical outlet to help keep the weeds down. it was completely over grown and I got the weeds down as if I had mowed them, quite easily. I trimmed the more woody weeds down with clippers first and then just went at it with the trimmer and it worked perfectly. I was very pleasantly surprised and I can't wait to go out with the trimmer again, it was incredibly satisfying to see everything trimmed and looking so clean.

We bought a new house this summer that had a good-sized back yard with a lot of fence, railroad ties and rocks along the grass. I didn't want to have to man-handle our heavy gas powered weed whacker just to trim the grass. This does the job just fine. The first time I did it the grass was very thick and very long from neglect and the battery didn't last long enough to do the entire front and back yards. But now that I'm keeping up on it regularly, it does them both just fine.

So far, it has performed better than my older and much heavier duty line trimmer.I've seen others having issues with the battery life, but only once has it ran out of power and that was mostly due top me not charging it long enough in advance. In such cases, it always pays to have an extra on hand.
