The light itself is longer than I imagined it would be, and when at the brightest setting it is a bit harsh if you have the LED’s in direct eyesight. But easily remedied by adjusting the pivot of the light. The connector does fit tight on the light. It wants to be pushed onto the light, not slid on. A little bit of thumb power will pry it off when wanting to reposition it. The base offers 2 positions that don’t require mounting. That works for desktop or for tasks really well. But with some imagination, some metal, Command Strips, or the included adhesive mount, this thing can be mounted just about anywhere in a multitude of positions for a multitude of lighting needs. Accent lighting is one great use for this light. I bought two of these. I went to Home Depot and picked up a long thin metal strip and some Command Strips and stuck the metal strip under my desktop shelving which gives me some great ambient lighting when on my computer. It is easily mounted, repositioned, and plugs into my usb hub. Very cool. The other one has already come in handy as a task light. When I turned the power off in the bathroom for some outlet work, I first grabbed my flashlight and quickly realized how difficult it was to focus the light on what I was doing. Then it dawned on me to grab this light and viola, instant ample light where I needed it. Very happy customer.

I thought I received a lemon as it did not turn on by following the instructions. The instructions say for turn on/off: "touch the top of the lamp body". However, it did not work! Finally, by trial and error, I touched the small hole on the side and it functions as on/off. The lamp turned on while the small hole is touched. The instructions do not mention the small hole on the side! And after I touched the small hole, the top of the lamp body started to response. It seems like an initialization process required to make this works. I don't know exactly if this is the sequence for getting this to work. But it is confusing! Now, after this initialization process, I can turn this lamp on/off by touching the top of the lamp OR touching the small hole. It is kind of strange.

As for the function of this lamp I really like it. I can see it's multiple uses not just a desk lamp. Decent as a flashlight and lightweight. Most likely will buy another. The reason I gave it four stars was the lack of decent instructions. They only give you a parts list but I like having step by step instructions on how to put it together. I was able to figure it out by reading the comments from other buyers. I still don't know what that screw was for, and the package also had a couple of velcro oval disks with double sided 3M tape. I'm not sure how useful they would be because if you applied them to the bottom of the clamp to stick on somewhere it would be on the bottom of the clamp permanently and you would have to use the second disk on the lamp base instead of using the magnets on the clamp to attach to the lamp base.

Excellent minimalistic. The touch control is great. The learning curve for changing the brightness up or down or on and off is good. Cons include not providing a USB AC adapter (you have to provide that or used included cord to plug it into a computer for charging). The cord has USB at 1 AM and then a special barrel connector at the other in to charge the lamp. It would be nice if the lamp Jack was a mini or micro USB instead of the barrel connector. This way you have large numbers of existing USB cables in case the original gets lost. Despite that, the battery holds a pretty decent charge. I have used it, on average, about 20 minutes per night as I'm going to bed. With a 30% brightness level on average, the battery can last up to two weeks before requiring a recharge. I paid half of the normal price during a sale. At that price point, this was a superb purchase. If I had paid full price, it would be a very good to excellent purchase. Great product!

I love this. Simple design, brilliant light output. I get the tradeoff on plug type. The monoplug is easier to fit without looking than a microUSB at the loss of power cable standardisation. Hopefully I won't have durability issues with the power cable. Love the magnetic attachment to the base which provides lots of options for attaching to metallic surfaces in a pinch. The internal battery power should come in handy during power outages, or evening BBQs outdoors. I'd love to see more form factors considered as the notion of a battery backed lamp makes sense in a lot of contexts.

Very nice light loved the features. Worked for 3 months and now the touch sensitive switch stopped working. When you plug it in to charge, the light stays on full brightness. Top that with zero warranty information on the link that takes you to your login screen even when you are already logged in. I had to revise my rating. The customer service was impeccable on a replacement once I figured out how to send an email the company. Closer to five-star rating if I could have. The only improvements I can think of would be a larger battery for longer lasting light.

This lamp can be used as a torch / candle as you can use it as a handheld and walk around, you can also place it in the stand and have it as a regular table lamp. You can do this as you charge this lamp via a USB so doesnt need to the plugged in all the time you are using it Its touch sensitive to turn on and off, and also to change the brightness of the light. Its a decent little reading light at close quarters, doesnt light up a huge area, but great for a desk. Really good that it doesnt always need to be plugged in, and when turned off, it can stay charged for some good time. Its actually a good idea also for the car in case of breakdowns, you will be able to see around you, you can also use it for under the bonnet, as its charged by USB if it runs down, you can charge with a standard adapter in the cigarette lighter slot. Multiple uses, pleased

Have been using the lamp on my desk at work and I like it quite a bit. The fade on and off effect is nice. Good battery life so far. Ample light output. Love the portability. First impression was that the lamp appeared a little cheaply made - rough cut on the end where the power supply plugins in, could feel with my finger - but functionally I like it. Very versatile the magnetic clip. Side note: I initially expected that the light cylinder would slide into the supplied magnetic holder. Instead I needed to snap the cylinder into the holder. Worked fine.

This seems to be a well designed and built product. 5W is the total power budget for this device, so you can run/charge from the commonly available 1A usb sources. Battery charging is accomplished with a CN3153 configured for a constant current charging profile (no CV termination) at about 230mA. The led section draws the other 770mA (from 5V at full brightness). The battery capacity is 1100mAh, so the claim of 4 hours at full brightness is probably a bit exaggerated (I didn't actually time it). It also takes about 4 hours to charge.

When the lamp is put together using the magnetic clamp and used as a desk lamp this is sleek and stylish. The ability to be able to remove the lamp from the stand is a bonus especially if you have dropped something on the floor or need to move about at night when others have gone to sleep so you don’t have to put on the main house lights. As a desk lamp the stand can double for a smartphone stand as well giving a good viewing angle that can be lit by the lamp. The lamp has a touch sensitive tip that allows you to turn it on and off the LED lights as well as change the brightness to one of four different levels, the brightest of which is very bright. When plugged into the power adapter the base of the light has a red LED when charging and a blue LED when charged.

Nicely made lamp with small motion sensor near the base of the tube to turn on and control brightness. I was hoping for a brighter lamp but I like the clever design of the lamp. The lamp can be either powered by a special usb (mind you the unit does not come with a plug power adapter) or by it's internal rechargeable battery. Lamp is light weight and could be wall mounted with adhesive strips (two do come with the lamp). Base foot consists of two parts, a fitted plastic adjustable grip holding the tube, and a bracket which has some magnets that hold the grip. This is good for lighting immediate area, but not necessarily a room. A larger, brighter version of this would also be a good sale item. Using these lamps in pairs might be good to light a small room. Instructions are very, very brief. Not sure of exact recharge time or how long the lamp stays on with continuous use.

The light fittings in our house are in some strange places, so we're always looking for clever lighting solutions particularly around my children's desks, where they are encouraged to complete their homework. This sleek and simple desk light is perfect for my son's desk. It doesn't take up too much room and using the adaptable fittings I can attach it to the top of the drop down desk itself to shine down on his work without impacting on his workspace at all. The light didn't arrive with any charge, but after plugging it in for no more than a minutes, it produced around 4 minutes of light. The light is sensory activated, but a simple touch on the chrome tip. If you're careful how you position it on the base you will be able to charge the light at the same time as you use it. It arrives well packaged and after a short charge it's ready to go.

**Long review below, so here are the pro's and cons if you haven't got time to read it all** Pro's +Stylish design +In built rechargable battery with good battery life (4hrs-170+?hrs depending on brightness) +Good Max brightness +Soft/diffused cool light +Variable brightness +Good stand/holder/mount = lots of options +Light weight, slim and portable Con's -Slightly long charge time (~4.5 hours) -SLIGHTLY rough/sharp metal on base near charging port Full Review I was looking for a rechargeable multipurpose light and thought the dodocool 5w lamp looked ideal, but I was a little worried about the fact that there were no reviews. I decided to take a chance and buy it and I'm glad I did - It's better than expected. It's very lightweight despite being mainly metal (aluminium), looks smart and stylish and so far it's performing better than I was hoping for. Firstly it comes well packaged with the tubular lamp being protected by a foam tube to stop scratches in transit etc. In the box with the lamp itself is a small instruction manual, a fairly heavy steel base, a white USB charging cable, a plastic clip/holder along with a screw and 2x adhesive pads for wall mounting etc. My lamp arrived with a dead battery so it went straight on charge - that brings me to the only slight issue/dislike I have with this lamp - It took almost 4.5hrs to charge from 0-100% on a 1Amp charger. That's slightly longer than I expected but not a dealbreaker. While charging, the base of the lamp glows Red and this changes to Blue when fully charged. Mounting the lamp to the supplied plastic clip/holder is easy but does require a little force to click it in place. Thankfully this holds the lamp in place very strongly, but it is still possible to rotate the lamp in the holder which is handy. The plastic clip has two small magnets which attach to two magnets on the metal base. This holds together pretty well and makes detaching it from the base easy too. Generally, the base and the mounting system work perfectly and allow for a lot of options. How does the light perform? brilliantly. I bought this lamp for a few different uses with the main one being as a 'fill'/2nd light for close-up/macro photography. I was worried that it might not be bright enough but I'm pleasantly surprised and it works great as a 2nd light. The quoted 4500k light temperature also seems pretty accurate compared to my YN300 'Pro' Video light. It's quite a cool / white light which is very good for macro photography in general. I can seriously see myself buying 2 more of these at some point for a great little 3-point lighting setup. As a bonus, the light is quite soft thanks to a diffusing window on the lamp. This gives a good spread of light i.e. floodlight as opposed to spotlight. As a result, it of course works perfectly as desk lamp and the phone holder/clips work well enough. This could be could for using a bluetooth keyboard with a phone for example. Again, there are just so many ways i'm going to be using this lamp - very handy. The on/off/broghtness touch control works perfectly too; Touch once to switch on - Touch and hold to brighten - touch and hold to dim - Repeat - Touch once to switch off. When dimming or increasing brightness, the brightness ramps up or down quite quickly so it can be tricky to get the brightness level you want. However, most people including myself will use the lamp at full brightness or close to minimum brightness for 99% of the time so the whole dimming system works well enough in my oppinion. So far I'm very happy with this little light and If it continues working as well as it does now, then I will be buying at least a couple more.

This light is so sleek and stylish. It is lightweight and gives off an amazing amount of illumination for it's size. The light itself is like a wand. It attaches to a clip which is magnetic and that attaches itself to the base. It stands well on its own with the base, but the base could be screwed onto a surface; or not use the base at all and use the magnetic clip on something else. The light is rechargable so you don't have to worry about getting batteries. I definitely recommend this light. It would make a great gift as well.
