Q

Will this lens work with the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 or the Sigma 135 Art?

A
  • I use mine on a Canon 500mm f:4 and it works fine except that it over exposes by 2F stops which is not really a problem; actually it's a good thing. Haven't got a clue if it would work on a Sigma lens but I suppose it should.

Q

Anyone else's overexpose by 2+ EV? Is there a fix?

A
  • I think it depends on which camera you use this on. On the 7D2, this TC causes images to be overexposed by at least 2 stops, closer to 3. However it is communicating to the camera, it causes the camera to bump up exposure settings entirely too high, causing this overexposure.

The caps were crudely made. Haven't tested it yet. update: Tested with Canon EOS 6D + 70-200mm f/4 L IS Auto-focus (AF) WORKS even with the f/8 aperture (smaller by 2 stops). In-door photos must be on the tripod (or you will have noises result from high ISO) Image quality is better than I thought. Pros: * reasonable prices * auto-focus still works with f/8 aperture (with my 6D) * sharper than I thought Cons: * crudely made caps (not fit well) * over exposure issues as others mentioned (but you can adjust +-EV in your camera easily) * still have image quality loss with this extender

This extender over exposes by at least 2 stops, and seems a little soft despite using good lenses. I can compensate for the over-exposure as I shoot, but will need an ND filter in some situations. Not sure if I'm going to keep it, exchange it, or buy something else.

there are some random under/over exposure issues. I hope it is the problem with the unit I purchased. The pictures are taken without changing anything. Camera Canon 5d II with Canon L f2.8 70-200mm lens

Can't really review this other than to say it WILL NOT FIT EF-S lenses. None of them. Don't even try. The diameter of the part that will protrude into the other lens is too large, so EF-S lenses made for the smaller sensor will not fit over it. I'm keeping it because I'm hoping to eventually get some EF lenses and maybe even a 5D, but currently useless to me on my Rebel t5i/700D.

Mine needed about 2.5 to 3 exposure compensation. Otherwise seems to work fine. I will use with large telephoto to take solar eclipse pictures. If you are planning to use a 2x extender a lot, you may want to invest in the canon extender.

Tested it out for couple weeks, but I was getting over-exposed shots with this extender. Ended up returning it. It's Okay if you're willing to compensate for over exposure in your photos
