the GreTel S55 is a great looking phone. it kind of looks a lot like an iPhone 7 Plus, but it is a super cheap android with a huge 5.5 inch screen that packs a lot of bang for the buck. got the gold version of this phone and am very happy with it. really love this phone. however, for me, this phone is only a nice cheap backup phone for watching videos, taking some pictures, and making an occasional call. but it is NOT superior at all to replace my main primary iphone.based on my experience in the USA, this phone is at most a Tmobile 2G phone that will not work at all on AT&T in the USA. NOTE: on AT&T, the AT&T 2G GSM has been shutdown completely in January 2017 in the USA. and AT&T 3G is incompatible with this phone. so, no AT&T for this phone. tried three AT&T-based MVNO SIM cards. the phone said "Emergency Calls Only". and the android settings (About|Status|SIM Status) said "Unknown" "Out of Service" "Disconnected" -- although android on this phone recognized the SIMs as for the AT&T network. this phone's required bands are: GreTel S55: 3G: WCDMA (B1/8) 2100/900. GreTel S55: 2G: GSM (B2/3/5/8) 1900/1800/850/900. Note: AT&T's 3G bands are: AT&T 3G bands: (B2/5) 850/1900. AT&T 2G bands: 2G shutdown complete Jan2017. so, no AT&T compatibility for this phone in USA.that leaves Tmobile for compatibility in the USA. Tmobile 3G (HSPA): (B4) 1700/2100 [and possibly (B2) 1900 if in refarmed area]. Tmobile 2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE): (B2) 1900. this phone worked on 2G for me using a genuine Tmobile gold legacy paygo SIM card for only calls & sms texts on this phone with this phone saying "G" in the status bar. currently waiting for a FreedomPop GLOBAL SIM card and expecting that SIM to default to roaming Tmobile with at least the "G" for 2G GSM data. so, IMHO, at most, if you are in the USA, expect to have only Tmobile 2G GSM on this phone.this is a nice big phone with an unfortunate mediocre 2G on Tmobile in USA but would still make a great WiFi phone wherever you have wifi or if you can set up a mobile wifi hotspot. Last Note: Google may recognize this phone as an Acer Liquid Jade Phone or as a Southern Telecom Polaroid Snap S55 phone. my guess is these different phones share some similar underlying hardware.
