I've only used it as part of my pedal board. But im sure you can probably find someone on youtube with demos who plug in directly for recording

Yes, it literally mimic’s the amp Tom used to use, you would just need to find the right settings. I’m in a Blink-182 cover band and I use this with an Orange head and Marshall cab.

I used it as a distortion for a little while. Sounds good. A nice array of sounds. I just Eq the pedal to how I wanted the distortion to sound and leave the amp where I liked it.

Yes it is a mono output. I don't think you can use it with a stereo as it is Line level.

I would not recommend using it live as it will most likely cause feedback and be difficult to control. It is not designed for simple use with a microphone as it does not accept a balanced input. This device is designed to accept a guitar input to simulate a guitar amplifier direct into a PA system, power amplifier or recording interface. It does a very good job with guitar and can be placed after guitar effects "stomp-boxes" in the instrument signal chain. At high gain levels it does produce considerable noise as would a guitar amplifier. I can recommend the Joyo JF-15 for use with guitar as intended and perhaps with keyboard instruments to add character and distortion. see less

I've used it with both an overdrive and a distortion in front of it and it took each one pretty well. I haven't had a chance to try it with any other effects, but I imagine it would work with delays and reverbs. In my opinion, they would most likely work best placed after the Joyo California.

Yes, it works great ranging from warm punchy and clean up to a raunchy full bore distortion. I generally use it as a warm just slightly driven sound close to the sound of the old Mesa Bass 400+.

I have my booster before the Cali so I can use it to give me a bit more crunch and volume. My Cali is set for a singing tone and the boost pushes it just hard enough to almost feedback giving me a really nice sustain.

I don't recommend for AS sound but you can get early 80' metal coupled with any decent overdrive pedal before it.
