I was in need of a VOM for my do it yourself works around my home and stumbled on this as a quick buy in Amazon. Turns out that it is a well built meter. I liked the non contact voltage testing function (NCV) in which we can hold the unit close to a power outlet and it will tell you if there is a voltage present. In other words, basically it can act as a quick electric voltage tester and you do not need to carry both tools together. The digital multimeter comes fully equipped with a probe and test leads. It has a Large and easy to read LCD digital display. The display supports backlight and there is a dedicated switch to hold the value which could come in handy many a time in DIY. Well, it even has a temperature measuring function which would support over 200 degree celcius. Overall its a solid product and must have for a DIYer

I love the size and it's sturdy! Feels heavy duty. The leads are well made and i like the way they attach on notches on the back for storage. Although i haven't used it much yet, it appears to work okay. I own a couple other meters already, but I wanted a auto ranging meter to take the guess work out of which setting in the different situations. Now the bad....or in my opinion anyway. The manual they send with this thing is VERY POOR AT BEST! It's small, the small writing is difficult to read. It's in several languages like many devices. Once you find the section that applies to you (mine english of course) it's difficult to read and understand and jumps you around. I searched the web for a better version with no success. What i ended up doing was taking the book to work and copying it on our copy machine...blowing up the pages. It helped but it's still sketchy at best. I also searched the internet for similar devices and downloaded their instructions. It helped. Bottom line. I like the unit, the manual could be much much better. If you have any experience with a multimeter at all, you should be able to figure it out. If not, I would suggest you find something else as a first one. Overall, I like it though and i think it will work well for me! I hope this helps!

I have several multimeters because I work as a mechanic and also do car and house projects so it’s nice to have them laying everywhere. The ones I have are much simpler than this in terms of available functions, especially the live wire tester. This was definitely one of the main reasons for getting this, especially for the price. I’ve not heard of this brand until now, but usually companies like these will really make quality products because they’re still relying on quality products to gain a loyal customer base. The instruction manual seems pretty lengthy, but if you hsve a basic understanding of how these work you could probably figure it out yourself rather quickly.

Rugged construction, well made. Broad functionality. In preliminary testing, it seems to perform reasonably well. The temperature probe was precise (consistent readings), if not accurate; it continually gave me a temperature of 92-93F, which is fairly hypothermic. The temp sensor is rather small, as well. However, the reading responds well, and zeros quickly. This is also the case for measuring resistance through the other suplied cables. Voltage check on a 1.2V battery consistently measured 1.29V. I do wish there was a recharging port, though. Overall this seems sufficiently capable of basic functions; accuracy could potentially be better, and a charging option would be an improvement, but for this price point both are understandable.

So many people state "if there was 0 stars i would give it that". however on the opposite end of the equation I must write that if there was a 6 star rating I would give it that. My no longer wanted or used excelvan capacitor meter always was reading much too high. This will be a problem if you are trying to determine if a HVAC run cap is within the 6% tolerance printed on the cap itself. With the excelvan meter it always read high showing bad [above 6 % percent], but this meter is more in line and actually shows the caps as good [withing tolerance]. I like this meter.

Transparency: I received an evaluation unit of this multimeter for the purposes of testing and providing this review. Having said that, there are many things to like about this multimeter, and I would gladly pay the $20 for this device. Background: I've had a simple Radio Shack analog multimeter for dogs years (you know it's been a long time if it's a Radio Shack brand). I used it for simple measurements for presence of voltage before putting my finger in the socket, and checking continuity in things like cranky trailer wiring. It finally conked out, which was something of a relief as the analog dial was getting harder and harder to read with these old(er) eyes. This multimeter is soooo much better than the old Radio Shack, in so many ways. Let's begin with overall materials and construction. The case is made of molded rubber and is non-slip... easy to grip. The back of the multi-meter has a stand, and a hole so that it can be hung from a nail or screw. There are molded guides on the back for holding the test probes, and in a pinch I think you could also use them to stick the meter to a wire rack or rod while measuring. The test probes themselves are substantial and the probe tips are fully molded and come with tip covers. The wires are rated for 10 amps... and you can tell by the thickness of the probe wires... thicker than most cheap meters I have seen. Another nice touch is that the probes use "L" connectors at the meter so they lay flat off the meter surface. The connectors are substantial and will not fall out of the meter. Not that I advocate it, but you can leave the meter hanging by its probes if that's your thing. The display is large and easy to read... even old(er) guys like me can see the readout without glasses (you will still need your glasses to read the various indicators on the display). By pressing the "Hold" button the meter illuminates _and_ also provides a small flashlight at the top of the unit so that you could see in the dark the contacts you are trying to measure. The "Hold" button does one more useful thing. If you press it while taking a measurement, then the measured value remains on screen, even after you remove the probes. Kind of handy when you are an old(er) guy who takes a measurement, then says, "Now what did that just read?" This meter uses a rotary switch and function key in order to set exactly what you want to measure (and it will measure a lot of things). For example, on the rotary dial you might set it to "V" to measure voltage, then use the function key to alternate between DC voltage, AC voltage, and frequency. The meter auto-ranges... no need to set to 120 volts or 5 volts... the scale is automatically selected. I have not extensively tested the accuracy or repeatability of the unit and probably never will. But, it is spot on accurate with wall voltage which is also measured by my battery backup power supplies. It measures exactly 60 Hz for my house power... good thing my power company is keeping things in sync. Resistance measurements were spot on within the resistors own limits. In resistance mode you can also use the function key to set off a continuity buzzer... no need to look to see if you have a closed circuit. Like most multimeters, this one measures current flow in the milli-amp range. Unlike most meters, this one will also measure current up to 10 amps. I don't know if I will ever do that... that's about 1200 watts flowing through the meter, and you can only do it for 10 seconds or so... but the capability is there. More realistically, you can measure current flow of quite a few higher draw devices, something you cannot do with a standard, inexpensive multimeter. The meter measures temperature in one of two ways. If you don't have the temperature probes plugged in, the meter provides you with ambient room temperature. With the probes plugged in, the thermocouple measures useful things like cylinder head temperatures. I tested it out on a griddle heated to 350 F and it was accurate to within a couple of degrees of the temp setting of the griddle. One other useful feature for the handyman is the non-contact voltage (NCV) measurement. You can bring the meter within proximity (a couple of inches to just touching the insulation) of 110 volt AC circuits and know whether current is flowing through them or not... a useful gauge for a quick circuit check that power is reaching the outlet, switch, or electrical device. Any downsides? Not really. The manual has very small type font and these old(er) eyes require a magnifying glass to read it... you might want that, too. Then again, the manual does cover the operation of all aspects of the multimeter in reasonably clear language, even if it's not the King's English. There are a few features on this meter that you will probably never use unless you happen to be a budding electrical engineer. You can measure transistor characteristics, for example. Now, where you can even find a single transistor these days is open to question, and why you might want to measure it with this meter is yet another question, unless you like bread-boarding electronics projects. Or you can measure capacitance... this one might be useful, though, to know, for example, if the starting capacitor for an electric motor has conked out. On the whole, any handy person will be glad to have this meter in their toolbox... reasonably compact, nice case and grip, good construction, easy to read, and from what I see, accurate within its specified limits. Cheap, too. I'll be giving away at least a couple of them for Christmas presents.

This is a excellent small low priced multimeter to have around the house. It's accuracy tolerance is well within reason for the home owner and the fact that it comes with a probe to measure temperature in both Fahrenheit and Centigrade is icing on the cake plus the meters ability to test npn and pnp semiconductors Well worth the money.

This is a review of a Digital Multimeter, by Meterk. This is a small, 2000 count DMM with a lighted display, test leads, and a thermocouple for measuring temperatures. It has an inductive power sensor with alarm, and several measuring capabilities. I really love the smaller size of this meter and it is great to carry in my tool bag. The housing has a neoprene slip-case for protection from drops or jolts, and the built-in stand has come in handy more than once.

This device is very useful to have around the house if you are like me and do a lot of work around the house. It is very well built and sturdy so it will last you a very long time! It packs a lot of other features in it that eliminates the need to carry around other things with you! It is also really accurate and the led is easy to read. I recommend something like this around the house, and the price is pretty hard to beat too!

Let me preface by saying I'm not an electrician and this meter has way more features than I know how to use. I got it to test batteries, take temperatures and use the non contact voltage tester. That by far is it's best feature IMO. You can simply hold it up to an outlet to test if it's got power. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because my unit did not come with instructions. I produced a short unboxing and demonstration video. I think you'll like it.

This multi meter is better than the analogue one that I was previously using. I tested several batteries and located some electrical lines inside my plaster walls and even popped the house fuse testing a power strip on the wrong setting and the device still works! I love the thermometer and much features of this multimeter! The backlight is super bright and easy to read.

I absolutely love this multimeter. There’s no way you will find a better built meter for under $25. This meter does everything it says it’ll do and more. I really like the temp probe that comes with it. I plan on buying more as gifts for the “gear heads” I’m friends with. Pros: rugged. Easy to read and use. Included temp probe. The price! Cons: I would have liked to have a case to store it in my tool box

Works good. helped me avoid a costly dealership visit. Seems to be build to last, and the price is good, so I can't ask for anything more out of it. On a kinda related note, if you own a 2007-2012 Santa Fe, check your grounds. It's common for one of the grounds to get loose (one close to the battery) and the alternator won't charge your battery because of it.
