I am very impressed with these crampons. They appear to be well made and on 4 trips with them in ice and snow in rough terrain they performed fine. One adjustment fit 2 different styles of hiking boots, a lighter pair and a heavier boot without needing any more adjustments. The straps, while a little tricky with bulky gloves do not slip once set. For the price i paid, under $22 they are well worth the money. If i were doing serious ice wall climbing I might e inclined to go with a pair of black diamond or similar build but for everything else you simply can't do better. (I would reserve 5 start for a pair of Black Diamond Sabertooth crampons that cost $150)

I bought these for walking ski/snowshoe trails, when they are icy and not worthy of skis, or snowshoes.. They work, used them 3 times, an hour each time, roughly 10 miles total... They are not fancy, but they did not break, nor do they show any real signs of ware, which is amazing because I'm 220lbs.. The strap is easy to figure out. Not sure on the life expectancy of the plastic by to toe or heal, but hey, for less then $40 they are awesome! If your going to go mountaineering, in a far, far away place, where you life literally depends on your gear, probably go with $150+ black diamonds.. They arrived two weeks earlier than they were scheduled to, so that was cool.. All in all, good trail crampon.

Took these on a section trip of the Sierra High Route in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This route consists of 80% cross country travel, and not for the novice. These crampons were an inexpensive solution to having to walk through snow. It was really hard to walk on granite solid rock with these on, but that's not what they're for. Avoid solid rock while wearing these, it's a good way to break a leg. They were amazing in semi-compacted snow and light talus. No issues with the teeth bending. They are adjustable, and they felt solid on my feet the entire time I wore them.

When you buy these, you know that they are a cheap option to keep you from falling on your backside. They aren't for serious climbing or even doing much hiking that would rely on the use of the front spikes. The straps are a little clunky, but they do the job fine. I have taken the new "light weight" version crampons out on ice covered rocks along lake superior, up frozen rivers that don't have enough snow for snowshoeing and on the mixed ice crud that happens after a winter rain. These have worked fantastic the entire time. I use them with an insulated hiking boot and regular hiking boots without any issues. I could see them having a hard time working with larger Sorel type snowboots though. At $25.99, they are a nice budget option for less extreme needs.

They are a little tough to put on and I switched up the adjustable bolt to be top mounted rather than bottom. Also the largest size barley fit my size 11 boots. However, they did perform well in ice, slushy/ rocky ice conditions. I wouldn't recommend glacier hiking with these.

these arent the best crampons money can buy but they may be the best value. At the price I paid, I am more than satisfied and they worked super well in icy rocky mountain terrain of the adirondacks. Yes, spending 100 bucks on pretzl might be light and a bit more nimble but, you dont really need to. Granted i dont expect these to last more that 10-20 hikes but for what I paid thats great!
