Nice little tach for the money. I felt that the instructions were lacking quite a bit, but I was able to figure it out. There are two long red and black wires - these provide power. The red should be hooked to a 'key hot' wire. There are two shorter red and black wires - these are for the backlight. The red wire here should be hooked to a wire that gets hot when the parking lights are turned on. Finally the long green wire needs to be hooked to the signal for the distributor. For my Chevy HEI ignition, this was a wire directly to the distributor cap. The response of the needle is nice and smooth, not choppy or jittery. The backlight is a very bright blue. The bezel is just ok, the holes in the back of it for the wires to pass through are on the wrong side for how I have it mounted (base down to the top of my dash). This seems wierd to me, the wires come out of the top of the tach itself when oriented upright. Didn't seem to cause any problems though.
