What is the purpose of the "bent over"tip that rides over the other tip? looks kind of like a hook

  • I can't say for sure but I believe it's to prevent hooks from slipping out of the jaws when twisting them out of the fishes mouth.

Can this product cut braided line

  • Yes, I have cut braided line with mine, don't judge them until you try them, when I opened the box I was not impressed, after using them my opinion changed drastically, I'll be ordering a pair for my wife.

Did anyone buy the fish grip combo choice and how was it?

  • it is lightweight, not too big so if you have really big hands you might find it small. lanyard and safety clip are excellent for securing it to my life vest while fishing and standing in the water. good for crimping wire leaders and also excellent grip on fish. I love it!

If you need to oil it to keep it from rusting, its not stainless steel. ?

  • I haven't used any oil or anyone, send to be working just fine with no rust. Probably a protective coat or something.
