Tested this remote thermostat upon receipt and was disappointed to find that the remote would not pair with the control unit. Since this is the only one of it's kind I have been able to find for use with an electric heater I just ordered another one in the hope that it will work. I will post a new review upon testing the 2nd one. Updated review - received 2nd one today and it is working well so far. I'm very pleased about this because this is the only remote controlled thermostat that I have been able to find online for use with an electric room heater.

I bought a new gas furnace for which I wanted a portable thermostat with remote sensing but was not able to find one. I want the unit to sense the temperature near to where I sit rather than on a wall somewhere so I purchased one of these units. I wired the output of the plug to a control transformer and the transformer to the thermostat connections on the control panel on the furnace which works great. I can move the sensing unit to any room and control the temp in that room. The on/off dead band on the unit is only one degree which may make your device cycle too frequently for you. If so, switch the unit to C which will give you almost 2 degrees F dead band. The unit output is only rated for 1800 watts; if you need to control something which draws more current you can wire the output to control a relay and operate basically anything. You can also reverse the function using a relay and/or control numerous devices. If this thing lasts it is a real steal at this price.

I have used this for over a year now, on a daily basis. This unit has proved to be very reliable. I use it to run a modified and permanently mounted space heater in the bathroom, which my family extremely depend on in long Boston winters. So, this is not just casual use and something that can fail without wrecking your nerves. I change batteries on this in very reasonable intervals. I had to open both units and expand the antenna spring a little longer to make sure it can connect reliably every time, otherwise, the range was very low because the receptacle was located in something like a metal cage. I know everything has a life expectancy. So I'm buying another one now because it may fail one day in the next 10 years and it may have been discontinued by that time. But I highly recommend it since I didn't expect such reliability at this price range.

WOW. I had some doubts as this was so affordable. My home office is in the basement level of our home. It only gets heat from the larger play room next to it. When we converted it to an office and put doors on for noise reduction that left me with ZERO heat. I used a TV Stand that had an integrated electric fireplace as something of a network closet. My idea was to use that for heat and man does it work well, but there is no way to regulate the temp. Using this plug solved that completely! You plug this plug in to your strip, then whatever device into it. The wireless receiver can be just placed on a surface, or wall mounted (which I did). It responds immediately and is VERY accurate matching my the thermometer in my office (weather station) station says to within 1/2 a degree. All in all this thing is fantastic.

I'm using this with an Eden Pure heater that didn't have a built in thermostat. It uses bars instead of showing the exact temperature so it was hard to set it correctly. This worked exactly how I expected. Now I can set it to an exact temperature and have it turn the heater off when needed. It makes getting an even temperature throughout the house so much easier. It paired to the base unit as soon as I turned it on and worked without a hitch. You can also pick either Celsius or Fahrenheit to display the temperature. I also love that one controller can be used for multiple units. This makes things much easier as I use 3 of these for separate heaters. The only reason I knocked a star off is that the temperature display seems to be off by a few degrees. They all show the same temperature which is a plus but I initially put these in a room set at 72 degrees using an air conditioner but it showed the temperature at I believe 76. It's not a large discrepancy and since they all show the same temperature it was easy to adjust.

I use this to keep my chicken coop above 32F. Works as it is designed. One thing that caused an issue is if the actual temperature drops below 32F, it shuts down the heater and goes into a “LL” mode. Software should be written to just keep the power on in a situation where the temperature goes below 32F. The temperature could then recover above 32F.
