Is this device compatible with orange theory fitness app?

A
  • I have no idea about that but would not reccomend this product. I used it 4-5 times a week at the gym and it only lasted a couple months. I have a Garmin chest strap now and it seems to be way better made. Ive had it over 6months and only use it on the treadmill. Hope that helps

Can you set custom alarms when exceeding a HR level?

A
  • This just beams your heart rate to a device. It would depend on the software/app that you choose to read that data.

Q

Is this monitor sensitive enough to be used to measure heart rate variability? does it sync with some of the major hrv apps (elite hrv, ithlete, etc)?

A
  • I've paired with Cyclemeter on my iPhone 5. Keeps current, maximum and average. Can also track by total workout, lap or interval, i.e mile. Can export details. I use outside on bike as well as spinnning. Cross checked with previous HRM and found consistency between the two.

This is inexpensive for an ANT+ HR transmitter... or for a Bluetooth one. For one that works with both, simultaneously, it's great. I have it connecting to my Motorola MotoActv, and to my iPhone 6+ running Strava. Both get and report my heartrate, and it seems pretty reliable about it. When I read the description, I wasn't clear whether it would do both at once; I am pleased to report it does worked as I had hoped. Highly recommended. Quick shipping as well - I think I received it before it was even supposed to be sent.

The HRM H6 works great and does what I need it to do, it sends my heart rate to my phone - the Wahoo app does the rest. At first I had trouble connecting it with my phone and other users expressed similar connection issues. The instructions are not quite clear how to connect it to a phone. Here is what I did to connect the HRM with my phone. Enable the Bluetooth on your phone but do not scan for devices, then you need to first strap the HRM on your body so that the HRM senses your heart rate. Once the HRM senses your heart rate, it begins to transmit, at this time start the Wahoo app, tap the antenna icon, tap the + icon, and then tap the Bluetooth LE so that the app scans for the HRM. You will see the CooSpo HRM appear. Long story short, enable Bluetooth on your phone, strap the HRM H6 on yourself, and then start the app to scan for it.

UPDATE, December 4, 2016: I've used this contraption with the hardware and software described below for the past week or so, and can tell you the HRM doesn't skip a beat, for an hour and a half straight - since LA Fitness was kind enough to build a gym a mile from my house, I've been walking there and back, with the workout in between, for a couple of years now, weather permitting. With the HRM and the free Endomondo software, I now have a pretty complete picture of walk and workout, from distance, time and altitude, to min and max heart rates, and a complete graph at their website, if I want it. I wanted to have a better idea of my heart rate before seeing my endocrinologist again, so that is, essentially, accomplished, but the side effect has been that I walked to the gym in the rain, because of the complete tracking, something that has previously often enticed me to take the car. The strap stays where it is, through all efforts, though I assume I will have to get some spares for the stretch portion, which is detachable / replaceable. So - all's well that ends well, the price is right, went from four to five stars ;) ORIGINAL: I have dedicated some less expensive mobile phones with their own SIM cards to particular activities, this so my "main" handset with all of my more sensitive information, my address book, and stuff, does not have to contend with "apps" that mine your phone for information. That means I wanted to run a fitness app with the CooSpo heart rate monitor, on an older  Nokia Lumia 635 8GB Unlocked GSM 4G LTE Windows 8.1 Quad-Core Phone - White , which is a perfectly serviceable 4GLTE smartphone, with wonderfully downloadable worldwide GPS maps, which is my main use for it. I hoped to find a free fitness app that would support Windows phone 8.1 (while I have an Android device to fall back on, the Lumia has some "spare time", if you like), and Nokia's Bluetooth, and this CooSpo device, that I can use to track my heart rate at, and walking to and from the gym, for medical (not fitness) reasons. The CooSpo fits the bill, I checked the button battery seating - out of the box, the button battery was seated at an angle, where it would not make contact with the side bracket, I had to properly "slide it in" - strapped it around my chest, at that point the Bluetooth application on one of my laptops showed it "ready to pair" (if the device does not detect a heart rate, it will not transmit!), I then installed the app - "Micoach", a free app made by running shoe manufacturer Adidas - which was immediately able to see and recognize the monitor, told it to pair, it said it could not but actually did, and the heart rate came up on the Lumia screen - with the app install, took all of five minutes. I'll update this as I go along, but this was easy, and I should imagine it'll support lots of other apps, too. Importantly, especially with the recent "revelations" about the inaccuracy of wrist worn monitors (makes sense to this engineer), I had used a device like this, talking to its own receiver, some years back, and always found the chest transmitter much more reliable than other means of getting heart rate, especially since you can do averages with these devices, not just snapshots. The Bluetooth procedure is changed from the "old" way of pairing Bluetooth device, I see this more and more - you make sure Bluetooth is turned on on your smartphone but don't set it to look for pairing devices or do anything else, you then launch the app you want to use, let it find the monitor, and that will do the pairing for you. If you're monitoring on another device or a PC, you'll see that, as the app handshakes with the monitor, it will disappear from any other Bluetooth panels you may have had running, and that means it has connected with the phone, and isn't looking for any other handshakes. If it disappears, but it does not seem to have connected to the phone, perhaps it is the pesky kid next door, and you should reseat the battery, reboot the phone and try again... Remember always: Bluetooth, like wireless video, WiFi, and some cellular devices, uses a small piece of unregulated radio bandwidth, shared by thousands of devices and hundreds of kids in your neighbourhood, and sometimes you need to come back and try again after everybody has stopped unwrapping their gifts and gone to work or school. Not kidding, neither, even your Instamatic comes with WiFi now.

I left my old Garmin heart rate strap in a friends car and was trying to figure out how to capture heart rate info when I came across this strap. I ordered it with same day delivery and got a chance to test it over the weekend. It came fully operational and synced with both the Garmin 500 and iPhone Strava apps with no problems. Within 10 minutes after receiving the package I was receiving heart rate data on both devices. The strap is as comfortable as any I have worn and uses a solid clasp and adjuster. I saw some reviews mention not tracking at higher rates(or zones) but I did not experience any of that behavior. Even when pressing well above 95%(190bpm) of my max the info displayed matched the perceived effort. I compared the activity with some older ones using the stock Garmin strap and the heart rate reported at different wattage outputs was consistent even at my upper limits.

Only 4 stars as the instructions that come with thsi are not that clear. First all you need to do is turn on the blue tooth on the Android phone and NOT pair. When I tried pairing the device with a Samsung Galaxy S3 or my Note4 I would get "Cannot communicate with device" errors. After contacting the company, they said all I needed to do is add the device to the app itself. Once I did this, endomondo found the device. A bit frustrating at first as it took several days to gett the answer to solve the problem. It might help if this information was included in the instructions.

Works perfectly via blue tooth, with my HRV app on my phone, and via ANT+ with my Garmin 910XT. Paired easily with both. No problems at all, at about half the price of name brand HRM's out there that only work with one or the other.

I am happy! I usually run with my iPhone but I didn't want a 6 plus on my waist every time interrupting my run with calls if I forget to block them. This worked with my iPhone AND it works with my tom tom spark cardio GPS. The watch has a wrist based monitor but when rowing, weight lifting, or cross training that technology fails so I switch to external hr and I'm off! Awesome product, slight issue with connecting at times but I expect that with all the signals floating around in the air.

the product works beautifully as advertised, HOWEVER, just for reference, it pair with but does NOT communicate with Cateye Stealth 50. The is not the fault of the H^, but with the Cateye head unit.If you need it for that, this may not be the one for you

As my first HRM I'm very happy with it. I love that fact that you can use it on your phone (bluetooth) if you don't have a ANT+ device. Worked every time since i bought it, i haven't had any drop outs yet. The stock battery didn't last long but i already had replacement for it. Overall a very good product for the price and for what you are getting.

Got it to pair on my windows phone (win 10 mobile) and desktop (win 10). Endomondo, my favorite activity tracker, works well with it and has shown no dropouts. I tried a few of the BTLE heart rate monitors and this was the only one that I could get to work on windows OS's. I also works quite well with Andriod 4.4.

Love this product. My new thing is spinning.. I like to know where my heart rate is, and also be able to record my results. Now I can use my apps on my iPhone, and get real time heart rate on the spin bike information panel. This heart rate band has ANT technology that allows me to use different formats at the same time.. Just AWESOME.
