These look just as advertised. They fit me pretty well, though they might be designed for someone with a larger behind - the bottom part of the rear padding hangs around a bit. Not a big deal, since I'm wearing them under multiple layers and ski pants. They helped a lot, sitting and falling in icy conditions. The coverage area is pretty broad, though I was really just concerned about directly behind. The construction seems pretty good, especially considering the low price. I would definitely recommend these.

These are a solid pair of impact shorts for the price. I'm 5'9 and have a size 29 waist and ordered a Small. I purchased these for snowboarding and they do the trick. I'm pretty new to the sport and did not want to invest so much money so I'm glad I found these. You tighten the shorts with a velcro strap by the belly area. My only gripe about these shorts is the mesh around the padded areas, specifically in the lower thigh area where the shorts end. The mesh kinda "loosens" after a couple of washes and it began to irritate my skin. I solved the issue by wearing long johns under the shorts. It's a gripe for me because I got hot real easily. Other than that, you can't beat the price.

These made all the difference in learning to snowboard for my 13 yr old son. The first time snowboarding (without these shorts) was a painful experience. The second time he had these and some wrist guards, and it was a totally different experience. They felt a bit bulky to him at first but after a few minutes he got used to them and hardly noticed they were even there. The only thing he didn't like was that the mesh around the thighs was a bit itchy. He had a lot more confidence snowboarding, as as such took quite a bit more falls, and at higher speeds. He always came away smiling and loves snowboarding now. I'm pretty sure he made good use of every pad in these shorts :-). They definitely saved some butt and side pain. I can't speak to their endurance as they've only been used once, but they certainly did their job!

These are an affordable padded short that is much cheaper than the industry leaders. That does not mean that they are a bad product whatsoever. I purchased these for snowboarding in the Southeast where falls can be brutal. When I received then shorts, I was happy to find that there is no room for movement of the pads as they are tightly sewn in. There is no hard pad for the tailbone but the foam pads should help save you from all but the hardest ice slams. The waist sits very high in order to get the pads to line up properly, but under a snow bib they are hardly noticeable. I am 6'2" and 180lbs with a 32" waist. The Large fit me well although I may wear them a bit tighter than some others might like to. I also wear them over a thermal base so I have not had any issues with the material being itchy. All in all a fine product for the price and I feel a lot more confident on a hard packed slope with these under my snow pants.

I purchased this after my first failed snowboarding attempt in which my butt was brused from repeated crashes on the overly packed snow. This ~1 inch of padding makes a huge difference! My 2nd snowboarding attempt was much less painful thanks in part to my increased skills and this lovely article of clothing! It fits comfortably, and also makes your butt really fill in those bulky snowpants better too. Win-win. I'd imagine this product would also be useful to newly hired drive-in food roller skate waitresses too.

Bought these for a snowboarding trip I took this last year. In the past, if things get icy and you fall at slow speeds, you can destroy your tailbone. The padding in the seat of these has sort of a triangle pad that works great to prevent that sort of thing. It also has the hip padding which can be handy as well. Not super heavy duty, but for basically a padded undergarment, it's totally fine. For the price, you can't go wrong with a pair of these. One of those things that's a great addition to your snowboard/ski setup.

This is a confirmation about the size and being too scratchy. I'm a 5'0" female and only weigh 100 pounds. I bought medium and the waist is 3 inches too small. I normally buy XS. I would probably have to buy XL for the waist to fit and again, I only weigh 100 pounds. If I buy XL, the legs and butt would be way too large so I'm keeping this and not fastening the waist. I wear my yoga leggings underneath because it's absolutely impossible to wear this without something underneath. It is like wearing sandpaper. By the end of the day, I would not be surprised if your skin would be rubbed raw and possibly bleeding. I gave it a 4 because I still cannot believe what you get for the price.

This is a comparison review, as I bought three different kinds of padded shorts (the three I could get on Prime) to see which I liked best. TL;DR: docooler wins, hands down, but watch out for bizarre sizing. Full review: I'm a 34" waist, and I was looking for something for skiing in terrain parks. This means my priority was butt, tailbone, and hip padding. Thigh padding was not a concern. Here are the three different pairs of shorts: docooler padded short (this product): Size XXXL; cost $14.98 Overall: Top choice Pros: Perfect pad coverage of hips and backside. Good mobility. Fabric is nice and stretchy; super cheap Cons: Pads might be a little thin for high impact; velcro closure might not last Fit: I'm a 34" waist and the XXXL fits perfectly. Hillbilly Impact Shorts; size small, price $65.22 http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CSYNZW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 Pros: Very thick pads and most thorough coverage Cons: Hard plastic over tailbone is not a good design choice; fabric does not stretch much; expensive; padding may be too thick and restrict mobility; string-tie waistband is kind of bulky to be wearing under other layers Fit: I followed the reviews and got a small. It's too tight. I should have gotten a medium. Shock Doctor ShockSkin Impact Shorts; size large; $49.37 http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C4OKYH4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01 Pros: Best looking shorts by far (edgy orange and grey design); comfortable; fabric feels higher quality than others Cons: No pad coverage on butt at all; other pads are thin Size: This is the one brand without ridiculous sizing. A large fit me perfectly All three had individual qualities I liked, such as HillBilly's extra thick padding or Shock Doctor's attractive design. If you just want maximum protection, you can consider the Hillbilly (again, I don't like the hard plastic over their tailbone pad). But if you're looking for good pad coverage and a good price, docooler wins. Just be sure to get the right size. I doubt the XXXL would fit even a 36" waist, as the velcro might pop open. I'll update this once I've taken a few falls in them ;-) UPDATE: As promised, it's been a little over a year, and I have taken some falls. Docooler's padding definitely makes a difference for falls on hard surfaces. I was originally only planning to wear the shorts in the terrain park, but they are comfortable enough I now wear them for all skiing. You never know when you're gonna hit a patch of ice! The shorts also still look good as new after a year.

Fits well, for reference I am a snowboarder, 6'1" 180 lbs, 32" waist, I ordered the L (EU)=XL and it fits firmly but not too tight, could go up 4-5 inches in the waist and still fit. Legs are the same, could have fairly thick thighs and be ok, I'm no powerlifter but do squat 2x a week and they fit great on me. Padding is well placed, you dont need any in the front since the only thing that would impact would be your knees/elbows/face and you could always get kneepads. The pads themselves are dense but lightweight and don't restrict movement and thick enough to absorb falls but thin enough to fit well under your regular snowbard/ski pants. Value for the money seems to be excellent as well.

I tried a couple others but this one does it best and for a great price. I drive race cars now and then and they're often formula cars which have little or no padding in the seat. Since I'm thin (not much "natural" padding on my rear!) my tailbone area was getting bruised. This stopped that problem completely so I can focus on driving instead of on how my tail hurts! I guess there are higher quality / higher cost ones available but I'm happy with this one. IMPORTANT: I am male and use the XL size, and I only have a 31" waist! So order a bigger size than usual. The only other thing I want to mention is that I've just ordered the WOLFBIKE 3D Padded Short Protective Hip Butt Pad Ski Skate Compression Shorts" here at Amazon for $2.00 less than this "Docooler" item, and as far as I can see they're exactly the same thing.

Before I purchased this product, I researched different products from this website and compare their prices and features. Of all shorts that I saw with similar features, this is the cheapest. I was hesitant because I've read a lot of negative reviews about this product like "you get what you pay for". I read a few reviews that this comes in smaller sizes. So, I purchased 2 size bigger than my normal. I'm usually size medium but I order XL. When I received this product, I was heading to the mountain to ski, so I used them right away. The fit was perfect, the materials were good, the pads were good. This product is AWESOME. Just get 2 size bigger than you normally wear and everything else is good.

Saved my Butt! I am a 36 waist and ordered the 2XL (EU) and they fit great. Very comfortable wearing them over thin thermals. After five days in a row of snowboarding they held up and so did my tailbone. Landed on it many times and I have no pain or soreness at all. I didn't even know I had them on. I would highly recommend these for the price over some of the ones many times the price. You can purchase several pairs and through them away if you destroy them and still have money in the bank. The sizing is not the greatest, but the shorts did their job and I will be buying a second pair for a spare.

After badly bruising my tail bone snowboarding one year, I decided to buy some hip and tail bone padded shorts. There were lots of choose from and I bought 3 different ones, not knowing which one would do the best job (comfort, protection, etc.). First of all, with normal pants that are sized S,M,L,XL, I always wear a Medium. BUT, after reading some of the reviews, I bought these in XL and they fit perfectly. I can even wear them comfortably under my ski pants, which aren't super baggy. I bought a second pair (size L) just in case and my wife (who is 5'4' and very petite) wears comfortably and ended up using for her snowboarding days. The padding on these shorts is moderate and relatively soft, and I often forget that I'm wearing them (which is good). They have decent hip protection as well, but snowboarders rarely hit their hips (unless there's a tree involved). I also bought another brand of pads that have harder shell-like padding and are much more cumbersome and less comfortable (they do not fit under my ski pants, but I have worn them over the ski pants for a Snow Kiting tour where the surface was VERY icy and hard and I felt I needed more butt protection. But, after using the docooler shorts for 30+ ski days since Jan 9, 17, I can't complain. Snowboarding requires sitting a lot and the occasional (or frequent depending on your skill level) fall on the butt / tail bone. Wearing these padded shorts definitely makes a difference over time. Please note, however, the pads in these shorts provide only limited protection and are very comfortable to wear. If you need more protection for more intense, harder fall protection, get another pair.

This was a required piece of equipment at my son's summer free-style skiing ramp camp. It fits him comfortably and well, and gives me a good deal of peace of mind. Watching the kids smash into the obstacles at the freestyle parks is not for the faint of heart, and padding that body that I have raised to near adulthood with such effort and cost is worth every penny. The first time a serious injury is prevented, I am sure my son will agree! He has often come home from the park or the woods complaining of the bruises in his hips and butt from the day's missed landings; hopefully, this will protect him as well as mine did back when I was snowboarding.

These are totally worth it for Snowboarding. First time snowboarding my butt was hurting something awful. I have been out three more times since using these padded shorts and my butt didn't get hurt. They have padding in the right place and make the chair lift ride warmer and more comfortable. Quality seems good especially considering the price. I have washed twice and they held together perfectly. Heads Up: I did have to resort to using my old ski bib since my ski pants would not fit because the extra bulk. I'd recommend these for any skill level, especially beginners.

Great bang for your buck. We wear them for aggressive in line skating. Amount of padding over the tailbone is perfect.
