How is the yaw on this quad? I was told a new version was out that has a faster yaw and am not sure if this is the model or not?

Q

Why does my 2 mo old x11 shut down with flashing lights seconds after liftoff? not a battery pblm, all motors spin fine

A
  • I think people overlook the batteries in the controller/remote hand held device. The actual quad maybe charged and ready but you may have poor or no power coming from this remote unit. Many times people suspect there is a problem with the quad but where does it get its signals and commands from?

This is a toy-grade copter, to be sure. It's also a lot of fun. I like the geared motors -- they're quiet and it runs a long time on a very tiny battery. For all of that, it's fairly quick it's faster than the Hubsan X4 H105/7 except when the hubsan is in "flip mode" (extreme expert mode) when it pitches pretty radically. It is pretty stable too. I don't use the guards. I have only had mine for a few months, but I was using it to teach other people to fly indoor. One student crashed it hard enough (with the guard on) to bend a propeller shaft, and while I've flown it anyway it has never been the same. I So, I've gotten 25.00 of fun out of it easily -- I have had much more fun for much more time than had I spent it on some other frivolous pleasure. I'll probably replace it when the weather turns foul and I can't fly bigger quads outside.

Overall this is a perfect little Mini Quad to get started with! You get a Xbox looking controller which is surprisingly accurate! Average flight time is about 6-12 Min, and that depends how your flying it, if your being aggressive/throttling it and constantly doing flips it will last around 6 min minimum, but if you're just hovering around here and there it will easily last you 9-12 Min. Everything about it is spot on, hovers nicely, very stable and accurate. One thing found extremely useful is the bright Blue and Red LED's on the body of the quad which can be seen in a very bright sunny day, even more so at night when you most need them. Also the quad comes with two settings, what i'd call a beginner and an advanced setting. The beginner has slower speeds and slower movement mainly due to the reduced sensitivity of the joysticks, advanced setting is best suited for advanced users as the speeds are too fast for your average beginner. I've had this little quad for about a month and this did it for me, now i plan on building a racing quad. Pro's: - Lightweight - Fast - Good Controller - Accurate - Stable - Comes with spare props - Comes with Prop Guard (With other Quads you would have to pay extra for this) Con's: - When doing flips the quad copter loses an altitude of about 1-2 feet when completing a flip. - Spare batteries are only sold by a handful of websites (DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY) Purchase them from a dedicated RC Website, this will avoid you the headache when it burns out your motors or main board due to the poor quality of your eBay spares. A con because the websites who do sell the batteries sell them around $5-$8 each. - Controller throttle could be a bit more accurate, i find myself constantly adjusting it to get the perfect hover without acceding or descending to rapidly but for under $30 you cant beat this quad

I am really discouraged by this model's slow yaw rate. If you are an advanced type, there are other controller options to get better yaw control, but not the controller included with this RTF (ready to fly) product. That's how my review differs from others, a not often mention weakness. I could list all the positives repeated in so many reviews, but I won't. It flies nicely and its stable, good beginner quad. OK for indoor flying. Its lighting makes it OK for watching from below when flying in dark conditions (LEDs shine well downwards). I prefer the NiHui U207 for indoor flying. Blades are more brittle than average, so spares are needed, especially if flown without the prop guard. The prop guard does not protect from obstructions above. That it, it will scrub popcorn off ceilings ;-) And the guard doesn't protect blades from hitting hard when landing upside down. Flying without the guard, however, produces much more responsiveness, esp. with moving air (breeze, light wind). It can't do well in stronger moving air (winds).

This is a great quad, and a good "next step" from a nano sized quad such as the Estes Synchro or Ares QX. It is very stable once trimmed out; I have let several first time flyers try it and they have all been successful within the first charge. The battery is good for about 5 minutes or so of flight time, however, it is a replaceable pack (unlike many of the nano quads), so multiple packs can be purchased. I use the tenergy 5 pack for the Hubsan X4 and although the fit is tight, it doubles the flight time. With 5 charged batteries you have an hour of flight time available. The build quality is good; not excellent which is why this review is a 4 star rather than 5. The gear driven props seem to be inconsistent with end play and mesh. This can intermittently cause the X11 to be out of balance momentarily. I disassembled the motopod and reset the end play to be consistent for each prop, however, it was not a permanent fix. My only other gripe is that the battery connectors are very tight, so much so that I am fearful that I will damage either the battery or the power lead coming from the circuit board. The transmitter is a surprisingly nice unit for such an entry level price point. It is well designed ergonomically and sized well for medium sized hands. Flight is very good, it is stable enough for indoors flight, and fast enough to be entertaining outside as well. Flips are easily executed. I purchased 4 of these, 3 as gifts, one for myself. All 4 are performing well after 3 months of use. It has proven to be very durable, especially with the prop guards in place, and is now my favorite micro quad. I hope that Syma launches the camera version of this quad soon.

Best quadcopter I'be I need in this size class! It maneuvers better than any of my other quadcopters! The only thing lacking is it needs to give a more ample warning when the battery runs low. Right now it only gives around 3 second lIw battery warning and falls to the ground. So it's good to have a timer so you know when to land. Fix this and I will give a 5 star rating next time.

Hard to control. Works great. You can get definitely crash it, I have. Extra batteries are cheap. Some people say you get six minutes out of the battery I've gotten close to 10. It's got a learning curve but once you get it it works pretty good.

Great quadcopter but the b- cord on the circuit board snapped off and I had switchable battery's but I figured out a way that I could put tinfoil on the broken cord and I found there is another negative charge in the back of the board so I flattened it and shoved it in the back and now it works.

its great! its awesome! even better you dont need a licence for this, the battery life isnt great to be honest but there are better batties you can get for it. but if you spend like an extra $3 you can get the X11C which has a camera as well but youll need a licence for that. but yeah i got it as a birthday present for my 12 yr old step son he loves it if you use a slightly higher voltage charge like 7V same amp itll charge in 2/3 of the time. but over all great product!

This is my second Syma copter as i already have the X5C. Overall i really like this little quadcopter. It's small and very "hot" looking and very lightweight. I have the model without camera. Compared to the Syma X5C the X11 isn't as stable and is a bit finicky to control as slow speeds. Might be more a problem with the transmitter than the copter itself. Keep the prop guards on when flying inside. But flying outside at the park i take off the guards it's great fun. Just be careful if it's windy as the copter is very light and the wind can take it out of transmitter range if you're not careful. Transmitter range seems to be a bit over 100 feet. For a starter quadcopter i would recommend getting the Syma X5C as it's more stable and a great learning platform.

A terrific quad! I was blown away by this one. I purchased several during a BF sale for gifts. Curiosity got the best of my and I decided to open one up and fly it around the house to check it out. This thing is very stable. Slow yaw rates like others have mentioned but I think that is good for beginners. I was a Cheerson CX10 fan for indoor flying but this is much better. My only gripe would be parts availability. I've already broken a prop even with the guard on. The Cheerson can take more of a beating without a guard and you can find parts everywhere. The only parts available are sold by Syma directly... in Hong Kong. I guess I wont be repacking this for Christmas.

This is a cool item. I purchased this for Christmas for one of my friends. It's a bit smaller than I expected but it still performers pretty well. It's a bit tricky at first but once you get the hang of it it's actually pretty fun! The only con about this is the battery life. You give this things a full change and you only get around five minutes of flying time, but I guess that is what is to be expected for a drone this size and price. Overall, it is a very good item and I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a cheap and fun quadcopter to play around with.

This little drone actually worked better than expected. It's quite robust, I should know I've had it drop out of the air (due to bad piloting) and hit walls (again bad piloting), this thing just keeps ticking. This is NOT for kids to just pick up and use, it took me a good couple of days of flying it to get a handle of how touchy the controls are. When you do get the hang of it, this thing flies amazingly well. By day 2 I can pull sweeping turns and navigate around objects. My only complaint (and it's really not a complaint) is the battery lasts about long enough to start getting the hang of flying it and then needs a charge. On average I'm getting between 5 and 10 minute flight time. The harder you make it fly (i.e. fast, braking pull ups, etc) the less the battery lasts. I've already order a set of batteries and they are pretty cheap, so you may want to think about doing that. Not much else to add, other than it's a pretty good buy. I wanted to get into drone flying and didn't want to learn on a $1500 pro-sumer model so got this thing to bang around. Glad I did!
