Yes, it will work just fine. I had it for the front when we start using it, now I have it over the rear tire and works fine.

We really like it, my daughter enjoys it a lot. The only real problems are the chest strap has to be unthreaded and re threaded everytime we get her in our out. Also I'm not sure if it because my legs are way long or what but they are way bowed out to accommodate the width of the seat, making it hard to get up hills.
