I did receive this XLR cable in exchange for a review but no hyperbole here. This is a very decent cable and works just fine. It is not, however, a very heavy duty cable so care needs to be taken if you are using cables all the time as I need to do. The plastic is certainly strong enough for lighting functions but I would hesitate to designate it as an every day cable that constantly needs to be plugged in and out each day. The shielding certainly is appropriate for lighting use and if you are going to leave it plugged in for a long time, that is the way to go with this. Hope this brief review has been of some help. Thanks for reading

DMX cables can cost you a small fortune when you start setting up medium to large light displays. Many DJ's will use XLR cables to set up their light displays because of the lower cable costs. XLR cables will work for short runs for par lights. However, when you start getting into larger set ups with long cable runs or using moving head lights, you will want to use DMX cables. DMX cables come in different cable grades......This particular cable would be considered a light commercial grade. So, what does that mean? This grade able is perfect for mobile DJ's doing small & medium sized venues. I probably would not use this grade to do a Stadium show or cable runs over 300 feet. For those types of shows you will want to use a professional grade cable. But, house parties, weddings, and local school dances these are perfect. The price of these are about 1/3 the price of the "Big Name" brands. The cable ends are actually pretty good quality. The cable wire is ok, but it is not heavy enough for a professional grade cable. We have tested a 3m length cable at several shows using it as the gateway cable from the board to the 1st light in the DMX chain. We had no issues at all with any of the lights. We set up the DMX chain with a variety of lights and even had 8 moving head lights. All the lights synced perfectly with the control board. Over all, I would feel comfortable to use these cables in any mobile situation. DISCLOSURE*** I received this item for free (or heavily discounted) to give an honest and unbiased review.
