Can you hook up this meter to a pressure washer? If so, would you hook positive to the spark plug/spark plug wire? And ground to chassis?

A

  • This meter only works on a DC voltage (like a battery) from 6 volts to 50 volts. The voltage to the spark plug is several thousand volts! And is a pulse (not DC). So no it won't work.

I'm planning to install this on my pull-start outboard motor [Tohatsu 6hp]. I'm curious how to connect the wiring, though?

  • Basically you have to find a power wire that is “hot” while the engine is running only end a ground wire and splice the unit in. That will allow the unit to run when the engine is running

  • I placed the meter where I wanted it and then traced the outline with a Sharpie pen. Sorry don’t know the dimensions

Do i undersatnd correctly that you connect one side to ground and the other lead to a switched hot wire? and i do not wrap on the spark plug.

What is the maximum depth of the install bracket? I.e., if my console panel on my boat is 1" thick, will this work?

  • The meter is about 1.5 inches deep.

Can this be reset to zero time?

  • No...well, maybe, but you would need to cycle through back to 0. But who has 100,000 hours (~11.4 years) to do that?
