In this review we enter the last evolution of the USB (Universal Serial Bus) standard serial interface that debuted in the 90s with the first standard 1.0, followed by 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and now 3.1. This interface 3.1 evolution is divided into 2 types: Gen1 and Gen 2. The Genesis 1 works as a USB 3.0 5Gbps, the Gen 2 10Gbps. The differences are seen ... and how. WEIGHT: 100 g DIMENSIONS: 15cm x 12cm x 3cm Connection Type: PCI Express (PCIe 1.0 support, PCIe 2.0, and PCIe 3.0) Fits in x4 or x8 or x16 slot Chipset: ASM1142 Product code: CVQ6616283363370QV Compatible with: Windows XP / 7/8 / 8.1 / 10 or higher, Mac OSX 10.6 or higher Inside the box there are: Dodocool 1 USB 3.1 Type-C and type-A (PCI-E) 2-port PCI Express 1 Manual in English 1 Installation CD Opening the box we find the card, a manual on CD for the drivers. After a montage with a slight sticking of the board (the bracket was not perfectly straight), I rebooted the PC and Windows 10 is that windows 8 have installed automatically. As to clarify that boards need a power connector that we find on the discs and burners Serial ATA (now all power supplies have many). I was able to start the reading and writing tests using 2 software, ATTO DISK and CrystalDisk Mark. The tests I made them with a usb3.0 pendrive good quality, and a drawer for external hard drive USB 3 by repeating the test on both usb3.0 port integrated on my motherboard, either by connecting the gates of this dodocool. I used a TypeC to USB 3.0 adapter for exploits the present entrance to the card. Below you will see the differences. The board performs its job well. To date there are still no 3.1 devices, but if you have a flash drive or an external hard drive USB 3.0 high performance, you will notice the difference. When compared with the internal card on the motherboard differences are visible and tastabili. Especially with transfers of large amounts of data. FAULTS: Assembly does not own most perfect, but things negligible. ADVANTAGES: Fast, very fast, even with USB 3.0.

Note : Objet de test obtenu gracieusement.

dodocool PCI-E Express Card with USB 3.1 Type-A and Type-C Ports 15-Pin Connector SuperSpeed Gen II (10 Gbps) works on my Mac Pro (2009) MacPro4,1 with macOS Sierra 10.12. No drivers needed. The controller is ASM1142 which only uses 2 lanes on PCIe 2.0 bus (Mac Pro) and 1 lane on PCIe 3.0 bus according to its specs. In theory, you could only get 10Gbps one USB 3.1 (A or C) port at a time. • Plug and Play. No drivers needed. I don't have any USB 3.1 devices (yet). So, I tried my SanDisk Extreme CZ80 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive and Plugable USB 3.0 Hard Drive Dock with Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD. Note: • The device (and the controller) shows up as "USB 3.1 Bus" in the USB section of System Information. UPDATE: I got Mediasonic USB 3.1 2.5" SATA III SSD Enclosure . Tested with Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD: 553.0 MB/s Seq QD32 read, 453.7 MB/s Seq write. Impressive!

The dodocool USB 3.1 PCI-Express Card was simple to install. Make sure your computer is turned off and the power cord is unplugged. Locate an available PCI Express slot (preferably PCIe 3.0 for the fastest speed) and insert the card. Lock it in place with the supplied PC case screw and attach an available SATA power connector. The power connector is required to give enough power to high drain devices attached to either of the two USB-C ports. Power up your computer and Windows should install the required USB 3.0/3.1 drivers. Also included is a User Manual. Transfer speeds are very fast and meet the spec for USB 3.0 devices. USB 3.1 devices are around the corner and I anticipate speeds being twice as fast on said devices. You can't go wrong with this dodocool USB 3.1 PCI-Express Card as it is future-proof. Recommended.

I have received this for a review days before. Now I have used this with my computer. It works well: The package includes: 1 * dodocool USB 3.1 Type-C & Type-A 2-Port PCI Express (PCI-E) Card 2 * Screws 1 * Installation CD 1 * Instruction Manual (English) Very easy to install. I am running Windows 8. I was worried I might have trouble with drivers. But no needs to worry about it. Really easy to install and start to use. (Of course, if any problems, you can turn to the manual.) I am very pleased with the USB 3.1 port, which gives me much faster speed to transfer pictures, videos to my desktop. I can not express this, but if you need, you can buy one to have a try.

I currently have 2 USB 3.1 ports, but they are type A, as I deal with hundreds of RAW camera images averaging 25 to 30 mb's each, I wanted to add a True 3.1 port, as they are now making USB 3.1 camera card readers, this would save much time in my image handling routines. I might add that my BIOS is configured and setup for USB 3.1 speeds, but I am currently only enjoying 1/2 the 3.1 speed with TYPE A USB 3.1 ports, though I do notice faster transfers with USB 3.1 type A ports, compared to USB 3.0, and still save much time, a True USB 3.1 type C port should improve my routine substantially. Moving these large image files on USB 2.0 took half the day, USB 3.0 cut my work flow time substantially, Type A USB 3.1 has improved upon this even more, my hope is, True USB 3.1 Type-C connection would really be noticeable, being 10 times faster than USB 3.0, it should give me more time processing the images. I transfer these images to multiple external drives, this new setup will encourage me to be more consistent in my backup routine.

Looks very smart. I can see why Dodocool try to make being cool their differentiating factor. I wasn't able to try out the card as it is has a full-height bracket and my PC is needs a low-profile one. I'm surprised that (1) they supply a full-height bracket as most PCs are now low-profile, (2) that they don't supply a low-profile spare bracket and (3) there is no mention in the description or specifications of the bracket height. Anyway I've sent it back (the first time I can remember sending anything back that I've ordered from Amazon) and ordered a StarTech StarTech PEXUSB311A1C 2-Port 10 Gbps USB 3.1 Card - Black card, that's four pounds more but has a spare low-profile bracket with it. As for the people who have complained that they couldn't find the drivers on the dodocool website, all I can say is that I had a look while I was waiting for the card to come and I found them straight away. Still four stars as it is probably a great card and certainly looks sleek and smart.

USB-C port can provide more power than traditional USB ports so that you can run (or charge up) a wider variety of devices. Connect a SATA power plug from your PC's power supply to the connector on one corner of the card (you can see it in the product photo). With the SATA connector active the USB-C port can deliver 2 or 3 amps of 5-volt power. We chose this card to run a big external hard drive which is designed specifically to run off of a USB-C port. The other point to note regarding USB-C is that the connector is reversible so there's no fussing over which way 'round you plug into it. This also means you'll need a USB-C cable to connect a device to the port. No cables are included, but if you buy an item that's designed to run on USB-C it probably comes with a connecting cable. The card also has a traditional/standard USB 3.0 port (called USB-A if you didn't already know) with the usual blue color to identify it. This gives you a total of 2 ports with good bandwidth and seems like good value at its price. Installation was easy enough. You can install it into either a PCI-e X4 slot on your motherboard or a PCI-e X16 slot and get exactly the same performance.

This little USB 3.1 card is amazingly fast when it works. I installed this card into my ASUS Z97-A. Windows 10 recognized this card automatically and reported it as "ASMedia USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft). I then connect a Mediasonic USB 3.1 enclosure with a 256GB Samsung 840 PRO SSD to the card's Type-A port. Speed test results are truly amazing comparing with the onboard 3.0 port. Issue with USB Type-C port ----------------------------------------- I couldn't get this port to work with a Cable Matters USB Type-C to Micro B cable. This is truly a bummer and I am not sure the issue is with the port or the cable at this point. Perhaps I will try another cable in the future. Providing both SuperSpeed+ USB 3.1 Type-C and Type-A ports, this dodocool USB 3.1 2-Port PCIe Express Card is a simple and economical solution for adding the latest high speed 10 Gbps USB 3.1 ports to any desktop computers or servers. USB 3.1 enables you to transfer videos, music, photos, data files between USB devices and the computer at huge transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps. You can see and feel the high quality product. Package with board, manual, small form factor rail bar, 2 screws, CD. Changed the metal bar for the small form factor one because I put the card in a slim micro-ATX case. Immediately recognized with BIOS and Windows 8.1, didn't even used the CD. I bought it mainly because my case had a usb3.0 in the front but the MoBo didn't had the feature, this card does bring this capability. Great card, will by again and recommend. Please note I was provided with a complimentary product in order to write this review. But it’s valuable, I use it every day in my work and haven’t find any issue up to now.

Works great. Very well designed, build quality seems to be very satisfactory. Black paint on the I/O shield and lettering really improves the aesthetics. Definitely be the best looking PCI-E card in my PC, if that matters to you. Don't like having to plug in a SATA power cable, ruins my entire cable management, but can't do anything about it so I let it slide. No drivers needed on Windows 10, no notification or sound when I booted up. Went into device manager and it was already there. From anecdotal testing, both ports do reach 10Gbps simultaneously. Most importantly, both ports provide the full 5V/3A power of the USB 3.1 standard. Able to charge my Lumia 950 at the full 15W like the wall charger. Very happy with this product.

I have used it for three weeks. It works perfectly, and installs no problem. I feel so happy that i did not troubled by installation, since such technique things are always so difficult to me. But not for this time. This express card supplies power directly from PCIe bus or from 15-pin SATA power connector. When i using the 15-pin SATA power connector, it supports up to 5V 2A bus power on each USB 3.1 port, which really meets my need. The PCB and galvanized sheet steel also seems durable, which offers an excellent solution to use USB 3.1 devices on my standard desktop PC. In a word, it is a great addition to my PC. Sample provided for review. My experience with them has been limited but very positive.

Plugged it into PCIE slot, turned computer back on, driver automatically installed, plugged in a USB 3.0 external drive, and everything started working. Win 8.1 64-bit. Yes, it powers the drive without the card being connected by any cable to the computer's power. I read where some people said their graphic card's fan gets in the way of installing to the PCIE slot. My graphics card is adjacent but I looked carefully before buying and it was not a problem. The speed seems to be achieved about 2 times faster on my backup drive than when it's plugged into a USB3 socket. I think that it does not achieve full USB3.1 speed is because it's plugged into a PCI x1 slot which is the only one available on my PC, but I'm sure that it would perform better in a faster PCI slot. Great product. Worked like a charm.Just recommend it to anyone who need a PCIE slot. I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review, if you feel I have helped in anyway please click the yes button

I bought this as an upgrade to my X58 based system. I think my info will also be relevant for those on similarly old platforms. One of the issues of the X58 boards is that they don't have native USB 3.0. I have one with a 3rd party controller. There is an issue sometimes with overclocking and the USB controller. This negatively affects the ability for the USB 3.0 ports to function. Now I scarily successfully flashed the firmware on my USB 3.0 controller, you might not be so lucky. I can confirm the Dodocool card works just fine when my CPU is overclocked. So this might help some of you. Enter the Dodocool PCI-E USB3.1 card. I popped this in my bottom 16x slot. Yes I did say 16x. You will need at least a 4X physical slot. This can be problematic on non X series Intel motherboards as you may not have many lanes left after your Graphics card and maybe an onboard RAID controller are being used. You have been warned. In X58 it is no problem as it has plenty of spare lanes. X58 = 36 lanes = Graphics card take 16, Dodocool USB3.1 takes 4, 3rd party USB3.0 is another 1, plus an extra sata controller at 4 = At least 7 spare. Typically the Z or P series chipsets employ a dedicated 16 lanes for the GPU and then a further 4 to 8 lanes. In this case this card might eat all of your remaining lanes. Your motherboard should cope, by switching. It is just worth knowing. Where as a USB 3.0 would maybe only take up 1 and only needs a 1x slot. So please bare this in mind, especially if you have maybe a sound card and something else installed. I use Windows 7, and this doesn't support XHCI out of the box, you will need the driver disc or the drivers from Dodocool's site. The disc is a mini style, which is fine in a laptop tray style reader, but useless in my slot drive. Be warned. I benchmarked my USB 3.0 Sandisk Extreme 64Gb drive, sorry no USB 3.1 devices yet. With the Dodocool providing very similar results. IE very good. Night and day over USB 2.0. -- TLDR and wrap up -- PROs: + works fine when CPU is overclocked + SATA power and not the old molex connector + great performance + Black PCB unlike some cards UGLY: ~ No booting from card, but that is down to my motherboard ~ You will need a 4X+ slot free and 4 PCIE free for it, its not magic CONs: - Mini DVD with drivers, terrible for slot drives

It's very sturdy. Took me a few minutes to set up. But it works ver well. SO far the speed is quite faster than the previous one. Crafted with ASM1142 chipset, durable multilayer PCB board and galvanized sheet steel, this dodocool USB 3.1 2-Port PCI-E Express Card offers an excellent solution to use USB 3.1 devices on your standard desktop PC. PCIe or SATA 15-pin power connector for power supply Support SuperSpeed+ (10 Gbps), SuperSpeed (5 Gbps), HighSpeed (480 Mbps), and FullSpeed (12 Mbps) transaction (Note: The actual transmission speed is limited by the setting of the device connected.) Support PCIe 1.0, PCIe 2.0, or PCIe 3.0 motherboard, Compliant with PCI Express Base 3.0 Specification, Compliant with Universal Serial Bus 3.1 Specification It also works well at usb 3.0 speeds even on an old computer that does not have usb 3.0 ports.

Works great all the time when using it. It is of high quality, you can trust it. Recognized without problems after installing the driver, units operate at the top, even with a 3.1 type A (USB-A) and USB 3.1 Type C (USB-C). It supports up to 10 Gbps speed of data transferring. The USB Data transfer is twice faster than USB 3.0 and 20 times faster than USB 2.0. It is also compatible with USB 3.0 / USB 2.0 / USB 1.1. High recommendation. I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
