It's always a gamble when purchasing cheap guitar parts but I'm glad I took the chance this time. I am so pleased with the quality of the neck I got that I just ordered another. This neck is just the right thickness for my taste. Not as thin a Peavey T-60 but a little thinner than a vintage Predator. The fret work on this one is fine, as good as any I've seen on mass produced necks of any brand, I like the size of the frets as well. I hope my luck holds and the next one is as good as this, for less than $30 delivered to my door from China, I'm willing to take that chance again. Will update when the next one arrives. UPDATE: The second neck arrived with some issues. I came near to returning it but decided it would be a good one to practice working on. The wood is beautiful, another reason I'm keeping it, but the fretwork is poorly done. The frets are well seated but many overhang with sharp edges that must be dressed before it will be playable. Also, the zero fret line, which is also the inside edge of the nut slot,is cut the same depth as the rest of the frets and will have to be filled before finishing. The end of the fingerboard overhang looks like it was not finished, the corners are not rounded and the edge chipped in several places, this is not a problem for me as I will be cutting the end down a bit for my purposes but it reflects additional poor quality control. My last complaint is the packaging. The first one was well packed in an Amazon box as expected for an item 'Fulfilled by Amazon'. The second one looked to be a generic box that looked like it had come all the way from China with zero extra packing, just a thin foam bag the neck was in and the box had been partially opened, not just torn tape but staples pulled loose. I don't know whether to give UPS blame for poor handling or credit for delivering without more damage. I have trouble believing they accepted the package in the condition in which it arrived. Though the first neck was outstanding, since the experience was not repeatable I'm reducing my rating to average of 3 stars based on the two necks.

Got 2 of these and already used them on builds. The plastic backing is part of the whole thing to keep it from digging into the body so much. That's why it's a bit thinner. But with the plastic is fine and solid. If you don't want the plastic backing you need to get the vintage kind that is a bit thicker and heavier. The screws were fine for me - heavy and solid. If they are too hard to screw in you either need to bore out your holes a bit or use some wax or soap on the screws for lubricant. Also - turn slowly a bit at a time and never used a power drill - do it by hand so you can control it and not strip out the heads.

Bought one for a project partscaster tele. Excellent neck pocket fitment, I did not have to sand it down or make adjustments although the body I used was very good to begin with. As expected some minor fret work was necessary particularly just shaving off fret ends/sprouts and re-dressing the ends. Otherwise the frets were solid. I chose to finish this neck with satin poly which did not require much to prep as the neck came very smooth already. I expected less for this price but was a bit surprised with this quality.

After reading the reviews, I figured, "why not give one a try?" Some people get beautiful flamed maple necks with perfect frets and others get nightmares. My experience was somewhere in the middle. The neck looked good and the fret ends were dressed but the nut was on crooked and a dozen frets needed to be leveled. The heel needed the edges filed to fit the neck slot and the bottom wasn't flat. After a lot of effort I got a decent but too-thick neck. Update 11-2015: After a fret leveling as described by Ron Kirn on the TDPRI web site, a Graphtech nut and locking tuners, this is now one of my favorite necks. A nice thick neck is not necessarily a bad thing and desired by many. I would buy again, knowing that even the priciest replacement necks need a thorough setup.

Added this neck to my Tele-style Rondo Furrian SX. A little chunkier than the stock neck was. Pretty straight. Some rough fret edges. No excess glue. Fret wires seem seated and level. Intonation was decent open & @12th. Wood quality was ok. Wood feels pretty raw. I read it was sealed, but I'll probably sand and reseal anyway. One blemish on the fretboard around the 13th. Fit the pocket perfectly. The only issue I've had out of the box was the nut was super high. I'll probably just put my own nut on there. I expected some setup would be required. Overall, for $25 I'm pretty happy with it.

I bought it to replace the neck on a fairly heavily modified Squier Affinity telecaster which was totally worn out. The neck fitted nicely, the heel required drilling prior to installation. The machine heads fit easily and snugly. Most of the frets were nicely dressed and even apart from their ends. I gently rubbed down the ends of the fret wire, which were all fairly sharp prior to installation. The truss rod was way too tight, even after installing strings (10 - 46 gauge) the neck was visibly bent and required me to open up the truss rod by at least 1 complete turn to get it somewhere near true. This is an iterative process as you have to adjust the truss rod, re-tension the neck from behind, bring the strings back up to pitch each time you make an adjustment. A couple of frets were slightly proud and causing fret buzz and required gentle rubbing down to get the action how I like it (about 2.5mm at the 12th fret). I had the old neck off and this one installed, rubbed down, trimmed and the action set up in about an hour. It feels pretty similar to the stock neck that was on there. I quite like the very light finish and will probably just leave it as is, maybe with a touch of oil.

I have been making guitars for about 5 years now, tele's, strat's and some unique stuff. My specialty is making guitars with a LP type body with a tele neck and any different types of pickups, very similar to a St. Blues type of guitar. I'm always looking for necks for my projects. After reading the specs on this I thought I would give it a try and I ordered 3 tele necks and 3 strat necks from TOMTOP. Yes, these necks are made in China but to be honest I don't care because this is a first rate piece of work. I like to think I'm smart with a dollar so I took a chance and it paid off. I like buying USA goods as much as the next guy but if you don't have several hundred dollars to spend for a neck and you are buying less expensive replacements chances are you're getting Chinese made anyway. It is Canadian maple 1 piece with a seperate maple fret board. The wood grain is very nice. The neck has medium jumbo frets which are dressed nicely, no sharp edges what so ever. I was very impressed with the fret job. The finish on the necks have sealer applied so they can either be tinted, painted or stained. The finish is extremely smooth and the neck has a great feel. The craftmanship is excellent and you can not beat the price. It does come with what appears to be a plastic nut but I change those out for bone on all my guitars. The truss rod works very well, had no problem adjusting neck relief to my spec's. The tuner holes are predrilled for the new size tuners and have no mounting holes in them so you can use any type of tuner you like from Fender ( the many different styles ) to a Grover style, vintage, etc. There is no skunk stripe on these necks but that is ok with me. I do not like making guitars that are the same as everyone else's, I like being unique. Once installed on the guitar, the neck plays extremely smooth and very nice. Of course a precision set up makes a huge difference too. I own several top end USA Fender strats and this neck plays just as nicely as they do. I'm no pro musician but for what I do these necks will work perfectly. The shipping was extremely fast from China to Houston TX, less than a week and was shipped by DHL. They came very well packaged and protected. The best part of the deal is that one of the Tele necks I received is flamed! Wow, does it look nice. One of the strat necks I received was a combo of something resembling birdseye + flamed! These are really going to look nice on my projects. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and I am going to order more!! Finding a neck vendor with quality parts at these prices will definitely free up dollars to spend in other areas of my guitars. No more $300 necks for me.

I received this maple neck in excellent condition, shipped professionally. I found the instrumetnto be of good quality, with even frets, a plastic nut, and well drilled holes for tuning pegs. The fretboard and neck are unfinished. I applied wipe-on polyurethene to the fretboard and tru-oil to the neck aand heastock. You could poly the whole thing, however, I prefer a less glossy neck. The whole process is straight forward. Other than that, I added tuners and drilled the heel. The neck plays and looks great! One thing to be aware of is that this neck is slightly wider, by a few millimeters, than a standard strat neck pocket. This was perfect for my, however, since I was looking for a slightly wider neck for my project. I would love to keep this neck my little secret, but that would be wrong! I highly recommend this product!

I read reviews on this neck and was looking for something to build the way I wanted it. Guess I got lucky. It was listed as 10mm peg hole but came with the vintage drilling which is what I wanted. I checked the peg spacing and shape against my vintage template and it matched up to the 50s/60s shape. The heel had plenty of meat for fitting. If you want a bolt on, this is not for you. You need some good skills to fit it properly. It needed to be taken down on the sides and bottom. Holes needed to be drilled. Once I had it fitted and bolted on, I checked it. The fret work was fine and the fret size was equivalent to what comes on Mexican telecasters. The radius was probably 12" or pretty flat. My frets were level as it came. It also came with dings in the back side. It came from China packaged in bubble-wrap and plastic shipping bag. It looked alright. My guess is these are banged up in some factory so they just sell them off rather than use them. Otherwise it would likely be banged up where it counts. The fret-board and peg-head were fine. I will rework the neck somewhat but it has enough so I can get the 50s profile I'm after. I intended to pull the frets and do a compound radius and install jumbo frets. Then put a decal and finish it with amber nitro. The frets are so good I may just leave them in.

I wasn't expecting much, so I guess that's why I'm thrilled with this neck. I'll note this review is the result of an unboxing and not an installation, which will come later (and be added). 1) Neck was straight, has a good feel. 5 stars fors for feel. 2) Frets are in place securely and the nut is better than I thought it would be. Dot inlays are OK, as represented. 5 stars for hardware. 3) Finishing is terrific. Tuner holes are good and clean and there are no dots, dings or scrapes on the neck. QC gets a 5. 4) The quality of the wood is fair. It has detectible grain, but it feels softer than I expected, almost like pine. And there's not much in the way of character to the wood. It's pretty utilitarian. I am concerned about this hardness issue. 3 stars for wood. Summary: I am currently putting Tru Oil on this neck to get it ready for installation. I haven't gotten a read on final fit yet or on sound. Once I am satisfied with what I learn there, I'll post an update on fit, sound and anticipated durability.

From dealing with quite a few necks, these are not bad. They're also not 200$? So bearing that in mind here's some things to note. Classic shape decent maple, good level fretboard (hard maple) 10 mm standard tuner holes to fit standard modern sealed tuners, assembly is good, frets are medium, seated well but a little harsh on edges (just need a polish/touch-up) satin finish, standard top access one way truss. Nut is plastic...(best to upgrade) but at least it has one. dot markers are flush nicely. The base/pocket end on these is 2.2 mm which is just over 2-3/16" strat, just barely under on 2-14" not enough to shim. On 2-3/16" you'll have to sand a little, either body route or neck, but not much. Overall very pleased with these I've done 4-5 replacements with them all good. Truss rods set at 0 tension so will need adjusting with string tension on it. Pretty easy to get a tint if you desire, tru-oil whatnot, even heard of brown shoe polish...the wood is sealed but not lacquered etc. if you don't have a drill press (like me) check YouTube on how to drill neck holes as getting that right matters a lot.

I purchased a couple of these for projects. Both were very consistent. As others have said, the heel is a bit wider than Fender spec. The actual width was about 56.5mm (vs 55.6mm for Fender). The neck appears to have a light matte finish and is very smooth, however the fretboard appears to be unfinished. The nut slots are high, but a nut job is to be expected. Mine had a few visible sanding marks, especially by the truss rod opening. A couple frets needed to be leveled. So expect to put a little work into this neck, but it's really hard to beat pricewise for what you get.

I really like this neck for the price. It will need some basic final sanding and fitting work before you put the finish on but its not a big deal. Time will tell if it works great but so far it seems ok. I got it to try some finishing ideas out on. It is NOT of the quality of Warmoth or Fender but for a project guitar I really like it.

This is a good neck, great price. Fast delivery. Just a bit of sanding. Nut slot is tight, and it chipped a bit during nut installation. Filed fret ends. Had to ream the tuner holes. All of these are to be expected on any new neck. Hard to beat for under $40. I would buy again next time I need a neck.

Neck went into a Saga TC-10 kit. There were no pilot holes drilled at all. Tuner holes were pre-drilled to fit I believe 1/4 inch tuners. I picked up a set of tuners at local music store for $40 and the fit well. After assembly, we dressed the neck and after a truss adjustment, it went straight. Feels fine to my amateur fingers. No sanding required and the intonation of the guitar is good. No real complaints from me.
