It is a cool crimping tool. There is no wire end you could not terminate with this tool, in a household or in the office. It is built for everyday use. The plier is entirely made from steel, and the handles are covered with a yellow-black plastic, with a rubber insert in the handles, so you can grab it surely. The tool arrived in a zipper case. The plier is in the right part of this case, secured with a hook-and-loop strip. The left part of the case contains four socket. These sockets contains the three replaceable crimping inserts, and the four socket contains replacement screws. The middle part of the case holds a hex/philips screwdriver, it is useful when you have to swap the crimping inserts in front of the plier.Pushing the plier you could its ratchet, and after pushing there is a spring mechanism which opens it up again.

Dang you shipped this like way too fast, one of the Quickest Thanx. This tool is very well made for the $ like to get some extra different jaws just to have. yes there are way better made tools of this that do not justify their cost unless you use it in a trade every day. but for my electrical hobbies this is the ticket works so much better than my standard hand grip ones. If you were my friend i'd buy you one, well you are not but i'd recommend this to any one that loves RC, trains, car audio and anywhere there is a connection to be crimped appropriately.

These wire crimpers have made my electrical project a breeze. I was able to fasten all of the connectors to all the gauges of wire I had without changing tools once! These will crimp just about any end piece to any gauge wire within reason. I recommend these to anyone that does any type of electrical work on the regular, or anyone that has a single project on the horizon that would benefit from the use of these ratcheting crimpers! The ratcheting is great, as it holds onto the end piece until you have fully crimped it to the wire even if that takes more than one squeeze!

I've been using another crimping tool that just never did the job, so I started looking for a new tool and liked that this model had interchangeable crimpers. My only complaint is that the 1601-01 crimper jaws aren't color coded to US standards. So: Blue Dot = US Yellow, Red Dot = US Blue, and Yellow Dot = US Red. Since this is strictly cosmetic is doesn't rate a star, but wanted to note it here for those that might not understand there is a difference. Another note, is that there is a "right way" that the jaws go into the crimper. The lower gauge (thicker) goes in deepest. I tried it the other way around, and the bolt wouldn't screw in, which is a good thing, as that means that the correct amount of tension will be applied to the appropriate crimp size, so if you find yourself frustrated that the screw won't mount, make sure you have the jaws in the proper direction. I typically use a heat-shrink style of connector, and using the 1601-01 crimper jaws, the crimps using these types of connectors were perfect! They did not pull off, even before heat-shrinking and pulling with quite a bit of pressure! They also didn't "break the skin" of the heat-shrink plastic, such means that when heated there was no exposed metal that might cause a short. Now when it came to using a hard-plastic connector (which to be honest I've never had any luck with, using any crimping tool, which is why I don't use them), the 1601-01 crimper jaws did not actually crimp down onto the wire; it pulled right out. I started with the largest, and even recrimped with each smaller size, and the wire pulled right out after using all three. I switched to the 1601-06 crimper jaws, and the crimp held quite well, even when I applied a lot of pulling pressure; it did leave more of a mark/pinch on the plastic of the connector, but it didn't shear the plastic so there was no potential for short. I've included pictures of both types of connectors. The heat-shrink style of connectors, the miscolored dots, the case, pictures of using the 1601-06 which created a strong crimp using the hard plastic connector, but resulted in a bit of a pull/pinch in the plastic jacket. The last picture shows using the 1601-01 crimper jaws, and how none of them actually crimped onto the wire All and all, I'm very pleased. The case keeps everything organized, and it comes with extra mounting screws for the crimper jaws (which is a nice touch).

I like that it comes with a case so you can keep everything together. In the top pocket there are screws and in the rest there are 2 tools in each. I’m only using this to crimp small wire gauges and it works well. I haven’t used it on larger wire gauges so I can’t speak to that. It has a nice sturdy feel to it, quality made. It worked perfect for the job I needed it for.
