I have more cameras than I can count (5D2, 7D, M, M2, S100, GoPro4S, to name a few), yet I decided to purchase a Insta360 Nano for my business trip to London this summer. I even paid extra to purchase from a 3rd party just so I could have it in time. After spending a week in London with it, my verdict is this - this is probably the best $240 for camera equipment I've spent! Insta360 Nano is so easy to use - basically one button operation. Easier than GoPro. Once you put in MicroSD card (I use a 64GB), you can shoot without it being attached to your iPhone. It uses 2x 210-degree lenses to stick together a 360-degree image, almost magic-like. I could not imagine it worked better. When I walked around London with it taking photos and video, I was stopped several times with people asking me what this is. When I showed them the 360 images, I can see their jaws drop! Once Insta360 is connected to my iPhone 6 Plus, it automatically downloads the images to your phone. You can then export / post the 360 picture to Facebook. Facebook automatically detects this being a 360-degree image, and activates the 360 viewer where your friends can turn their phones and see your environment. It's just like they are there with me! (well almost). Many friends asked me how I did it. Between Facebook and ad-hoc demos in London, I think I sold more than 10 Insta360s to my friends and random people. After coming home I attached the phone to my VR goggle (basically a plastic Google Cardboard) and here I am, in my kitchen, reliving London in all its 360-degree glory!!! I was amazing how much I would have missed taking a picture from just one angle, even though I also have my EOS M2 with a 11mm lens on it. However, I did still take many hundreds of pics on the M2 (great camera btw) just because the Insta360 image quality just isn't as good as M2 with its APS-C sensor. But for what it does, it does so well. I'm so glad I purchased it for the trip because now I have memories of London - Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, British Museum, Buckingham Palace - all in 360. I can't remember the last time I spent about $200 for a lens or an accessory and had as much fun with it. Get it as soon as you can!! (My sample images doesn't do the 360 pictures justice, but trust me, when posted onto FB it takes on a whole new dimension.)

I bought this with skepticism and waited a long time to get it. I was tracking the order and took a free shipping option. The whole free shipping when you have Prime won't sell with me. Now the camera.... I have two other 360 degree cameras. So this is the 3rd one. I am giving it 5 stars for the ease of use. Just plug in to your IPhone and you are good to go. As I have used Bubl Cam and another camera I know that ease of use is very important. So 5 stars there Live Shows..no other camera offers that. Hardly any Live Broadcasting sites offers this facility. It works on YouTube. But let me tell ya... Insta is taking a bold baby step. The video is there on my Youtube page. The resolution is horrible and hardly anyone can understand what I am saying as the audio started breaking up. I tried Ustream.. the stream works but Ustream cannot handle 360 videos. These guys say Facebook.. hmmm I don't know how can one use this camera to do a live show on Facebook. The major problem I faced with facebook was, I tried to post the images on facebook and it just didn't work.. Facebook as is won't take a 360 image they take panoramic pictures from IPhone. To upload a 360 image we should tell facebook using Exif tool the image is 360. I did that for Bubl Cam images and it worked but for Insta images naaa it put two images from two sides and it looks horrible. I recorded some videos and uploaded them to YouTube. They look far better than any videos with other cameras. So there is my review. The issues I told were all easily fixable except doing live shows on Facebook.. I really don't know when that will happen. Keep up the good work guys.. I will be contacting the support to get live broadcasting code on Insta Site.

I bought nano because a friend of mine recommended it to me. Just received it several days ago. So far it works perfect and I just love the way to play with my photos! Despite the fact that this is the first time for me to ever use a 360 camera, here are some of my thoughts on it: Pros: 1. It can work independently or on your iPhone depending on your needs. Personally, I find it convenient to use with iPhone. That way I get to edit the pictures and share them right away. 2. It tells me how much space it has used. A good reminder for me to clear the memory card in time. 3. The quality of pictures and videos are actually quite good! 4. The texture feels nice in my hand. Besides, the appearance design is just as good as I can expect. Cons: 1.My phone battery seems to run out faster when attached to nano. 2.The phone has to be turned upside down for nano to plug in. Kinda strange. Of course, it’s not perfect. But I never expected it to be. So far I think it has lived up to my expectations. Good job!

I've had mine for a week, and after playing with it I have to say it works great for us! Just a little background, I have had the Gear 360, and the Theta S. The Gear360 and the Theta S both had different problems so we had to return these (Gear360 was out of focus when using it on a hot day) and the ThetaS was never able to connect via wifi even after resetting, and doingeverything we could.) The Insta360 has not had any trouble with taking photos or video and the stitch is very good. Photos seem pretty sharp for our needs, and the video is slightly better than the Theta, but not as sharp as the 4k Gear360 (when it worked). The only major gripe I have is there is about a 1 second delay from pressing the shutter to a photo taken and there's no audible feedback. I'm sure these can be addressed with a firmware update. Would dock off a half star if I could for this, but will give the benefit of the doubt. The software itself is very good overall with just a few quirks that I think will get ironed out with firmware/software updates.. surprisingly decent for a 1.0 product. Wishlist: 1) accessories (selfie stick, or mini tripod, or something...) 2) ability to do a 330 degree mode (sometimes the photographer doesn't want to be in the shot ;) 3) using the device horizontally, the review of the photo behavior is strange to navigate 4) Adjustments to the photo/video (color, contrast, bright, etc) 5) Export video/photo as seen in the viewer (eg. I want a little planet export view but people not to change it when they view)

You can't really tell where it stitches the image together. Very light and small to fit in a pocket. Simple to use: Doesn't need a phone to be used. One button control is super easy. Press once for a photo, double press for video, triple press for either time lapse, or timed photo. I also bought the little tripod add-on. I recommend using it with a monopod, with a foot, as the camera barely catches that. Best to use together with the timer function as you can just press the 10 sec timer, position yourself and it takes the pictures without your hand holding the camera. Battery could last longer, but for the size and weight its a good compromise. If I am out and about I have a battery pack with me as well. Mainly uses much battery when recording video. Maybe lasts about 40mins then. To view content just attach it to your iPhone. Can load images automatically to your iPhone, while bigger videos can take quite some time to copy to your iPhone. The free software you can download is pretty good (for Mac and PC), and the product comes in a VR cardboard which works very well. Recommended.

Overall, this is a very cool product and a fun toy. As a photographer who has been shooting equirectangular panoramas manually for a decade, I can certainly appreciate the value of being able to take one with a single click of a button. In that regard, this is a great camera. However, I call it a toy because it doesn't produce high quality printable output. However, there are some things that are a little disappointing. * The resolution on the images this produces is not great. Decent for sharing on social media but not high enough quality that you'd be able to print. * When attached to an iPhone, both the camera and the phone get very hot, very quickly. This is disconcerting. * The app you need to use to use this camera is basic, not super user friendly, and runs upside down, whether the camera is attached or not. * Edit: This is no longer entirely true: The only way to share the photos/videos you take with this is to use the Insta360 Cloud, which hosts the image and allows you to share it on social media as a link. That is the lamest part- who knows who gets to see your work on this nebulous Insta360 cloud? Social Media users would rather see it within the context of the social media app you posted to and not have to click a link to go to an external site. If you do share it through their cloud, the presentation of your photo looks like one giant advertisement for Insta360, which is also pretty lame. * The Insta360 support seems non-existent. I tried reaching out to them through facebook as well as through links provided within the app and have gotten zero acknowledgement or response to my questions and/or feedback.

This is so much fun. Ive taken this on a couple of vacations and looking forward to using more. It can be used solo or with and iphone. If you use the iphone you get more options but you will have to remove any case your phone has because this thing is made to fit exactly. Also if you want to do some editing from your phone you will have to go to the app store and download the insta360 nano app. The only bad part is you may want to use a selfie stick because on how the camera catches your hand holding it.

I've used the Ricoh 360, the LG 360Cam and now this Nano 3K 360 cam. I do like the size and portability of this camera - the shortcomings are mainly in the resolution and software. Where as some of the other cameras out there are closer to the $500 mark this being at $200 one must take the price into consideration of any short comings. The app is designed to be used with the phone upside down as when the camera is mounted you would want to turn the iPhone upside down to use it. It can be used without the phone, and other than recording the videos with it (30s clips only), taking phones is maybe easier without it being attached to an iPhone. I wish the app would revert to normal orientation when the camera was not attached though, as constantly flipping it around to share the photos on Facebook or messenger would be easier. Also when you share a file as a link hosted by the Insta360 website the 360 images are shown to viewers inside a a cropped image of an iPhone. Instead of immersing someone into a full screen version of the 360. You can, alternatively, save the raw 360 pano file out, and upload to Facebook (from a computer and not the Facebook app on a phone) and Facebook will make it into an AutoPano. If you upload the unwrapped panoramic image from the phone to Facebook via the App, it just displays as a wide distorted image. There has been at least 1 good update to the software since receiving the camera on launch date which fixed a number of bugs, thankfully. I'm hoping they fix some of the sharing issues and that the Facebook app will auto pano the unwrapped images in the near future.

This camera is badass. It's easy to use and the app has a lot of options for sharing 360 videos and still images. Picture quality is quite good and the realtime stitching of the two cameras is near perfect. Even the color matching between the cameras was spot on. I've tried a few times to live stream to Facebook with mixed results. It's easy to establish the stream, but frame rates are kind of terrible using LTE. Granted, I was overseas and my cellular connection was spotty at best. I'm not going to hold it against the camera until I try streaming in a more ideal situation. Sharing to Facebook seems to be the easiest way to share to social media. 360 still images and video upload with no trouble. YouTube sharing never seems to work quite right. It would just save a movie to my photos album and I'd have to upload it from there. Unfortunately something gets lost in the upload from iOS to YouTube and the video is not 360. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I've since started using an app called Luma Fusion to edit 360 videos together and upload it from there straight to YouTube. Instagram sharing of video and stills is unique. You get a few options to convert the 360 video to an animation that shows off your 360 field of view. It will spin the view and then go to a Little Planet view, or crystal ball view. It is a nice way to share 360 images on a non-360 format. Battery life could be better, but never caused me any trouble. I always carry a USB battery pack when traveling, so it was easy to juice up when necessary. Love the gyro stabilizing feature. It uses the iPhone's built in gyro to keep the video steady while walking around. No idea how it works, but it does. I own a 360Fly 4K as well, and the Insta360 Nano is a much better value and a way more useful camera. The Nano is easily stuffed in your pocket and doesn't look like you're smuggling a golf ball. Not bad for being less than half the price of the 360Fly. Great camera for the money. I'm sure there are improvements to be made, but nothing that prevented me from using it on my recent trip to the U.K.

Takes great pics but in-use apps are in Japanese😡 Hooks up best to a "naked" iPhone. Cased or jacketed ones won't cut it. Occasionally freezes so restarts during a photo op is annoying. Downloading to free up space only doable when hooked up to iPhone. Unless there's a way explained in Japanese. I couldn't figure it out and the rear view was blurred! I promptly got a response as soon as I wrote TOMTOP about it and the sent me a new one immediately, next day air! Got it now and weems to be OK. Adding another star for excellent customer service.

I got this camera for my trip to Paris and London, I got it 2 weeks before the trip and test it on my home, The video was so cool I decide not to posted anything on Facebook until I go to Paris, so I made my first video on the Eiffel Tower and it was a hit! the video was so cool one of my friends even share it as her own! ... absolutely everybody were asking me what type of camera I got, the video was great and the quality was great. My friend got his Go-pro with him to the trip as well, but he decide not to use it since my videos were so cool can not compare with any other video It is really a great companion accessory, very easy to use Just remember to charge it every time you want to use it, cuz can be discharge it very fast and you wouldn't even notice Video takes very long time to post on FB, I guess is because 360 videos are like that but it was no issue for me

I purchased this recently for a trip to Hawaii and was really glad I did. I have lots of pro camera equipment (D810 is my SLR, with lots of lenses and lighting equipment), but this is one of the most fun items especially for saving memories. I expected to take more video, but ended up taking mostly pictures. The best feature of this is being able to stick this in a VR viewer and put it on my head and be transported back to that day. I'm removing 1 star for a couple of reasons. The first is that I don't know of any way to backup and save the files, then get them back into the insta360 app without actually having the camera. I'd like to have a way to store the pictures and especially large video files and then get them back in at some future point or even have a separate 360 viewing app. The other reason I voted down on this is the video quality isn't the greatest. If you're just viewing this on your phone screen and holding it at arms length, the quality is fun and looks good, but looking through a VR viewer makes it look pretty pixelated. To end on a positive note though because I really do like this camera, everyone loves the results and seeing the pictures posted on social media because they can get a real feeling for where you are. When you're standing on top of a mountain and just see a traditional picture it's difficult to get a sense of scale, but you really can see that when you see these images. When you're standing on the edge of a cliff, people can see the images and get a sense of excitement along with you.

this is my first product review on Tomtop. so far it's an awesome package. the 360* image quality is excellent. i haven't tried the 360 video, its not my thing. the app is easy to use, and i'm glad the self-timer is in the app. product construction looks very durable, quality made. everything is all set and go when arrived to create stunning 360* image, and it sticks to the iphone 6s perfectly. anyone who uses google streetview can appreciate this product. in google streetview, you have cars chopped off, electric wires and poles misaligned, people's body not stitching properly. you don't have that nonsense here with insta360 nano. the stitching looks perfect.

Function: This fully works. I got in on the periscope 360 beta and got this to work with pretty good image quality for it's size and price (comparable to the ricoh). By big qualm with this is the design. I can get past having to take the case off my phone to use this because it would be difficult to design around that, case shapes and sizes vary widely and it's nice this can be used on several different sized iPhones. However, I always use a tripod for 360 video, and this design makes that difficult. The tripod phone attachment I use grips around the back of the phone, but the back part of this camera goes too far down the back of your phone, making it impossible for me to use this and tripod attachment at the same time, unless I want the attachment holding down my power key which poses pretty obvious problems. I'm exploring alternative tripod attachments but in the meantime, I cannot really use this unless I want to awkwardly be in the bottom of all my videos and I do not.

The Insta360 VR camera is probably the best low-cost mid-quality 360 camera currently on the market. The good news is the price is under $200, the bad news is, it's designed to fit only on an Iphone 6 or 7, not the 5S that I have. Fortunately, it can operate alone but has no way of holding it above your head, which is ideal for a typical 360 video. With a cheap Windows 10 tablet (running Insta360 Studio) and the Insta360 on a selfy stick, I get a nice mobile workflow without using an Iphone. I left the 3D printer file on thingaverse for the selfy stick adaptor I had to make, if you have a 3D printer. Also there is some video using the Nano stand alone on a selfy stick. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2058165
