I could not get this device to work either. My phone (Samsung Galaxy S7 edge) detects it and connects but never gets a reading from it. I guessed you get what you pay for!

I believe this device senses rotation internally, so no magnets are needed

I use this sensor while working out on spin bikes at the gym. The sensor is tiny (tucks neatly in my sock so I don't need to attach it to the trainer), connects easily to my cyclocomputer (Bryton 310) via ANT+, and gives accurate cadence readings. The battery (2 included) lasted 4 months @ 2 hrs / week. No complaints, has worked for me as advertised and at a bargain price.

Ordered on the 7th and received on the 24th. Came directly from China. No directions as per all other reviews of similar items. Came with a spare battery and a couple of extra double-sided tape mounting disks and zip ties. Simply shake sensor and it paired right away with my Garmin Vivoactive 3. Once mounted, spin the pedals to wake it up and it connects. Not sure if the connection was ant+ or Bluetooth since the Vivoactive 3 has both. Rode for 53 minutes and cadence was reliable with no connection loss. I did get two spikes on the cadence graph, but overall it was very consistent. Although the mounting technique is cheap, it is similar to others. Time will tell if it holds up. Very inexpensive alternative to Garmin and perfect for the moderate to serious biker. Recommend.
