I wish I had got the small reel, this is great but it's overkill. It's the size I expected, it's just a lot sturdier construction than I expected, and the drag is much stronger than necessary for this rod. I will probably get the small one and use this reel on a heavier rod for salmon and steelhead. This is a huge upgrade from the reels that come on the combo poles, and really cheap!

AN AMAZING reel for its price .... i got this as a starting reel for my 6 year old son.. he loves it !! and he even caught 2 fish on his first ever time using a reel:) you will be amazed at how good this reel is !!! i bought the 2000 series .. the drag was good for its size ... i will for sure try the rest of the reels made by this company...

Officially buying my 2nd one after my son who swears by his. It must be good if I'm willing to try something besides my trusty Penn 4400 that I've been using the last 20 years. Here he is with his 32 inch Snook caught without ant issues. Take care of it and it will last is what I've told my son, and apparently it has lasted. I first laughed figuring it would be broken within the 1st 2 trips on the boat.

I ordered this reel for my sons rod. Was looking for something affordable while he gets into fishing and all I can say is wow...it is smoother than my Shimano Sedona. I actually was so impressed at how smooth it was and how well it worked I ordered another for my other son and will be buying one for myself. Casts, retrievs nice and smooth. Haven't fought any fish on it yet but it seems strong. Well built and doesn't feel flimsy at all. Mostly made of metal and not plastic as I would have thought for this price

Two reels locked up after only one morning of use in the destin surf. Reels never touched the sand and we're never dunked in the salt water. They were thoroughly washed with fresh water after use. Update as of 11/15/16, customer service is awesome I did not have to contact the company. They contacted me and offered to send a reel to replace one of the ones that locked up. They told me that they stripped the reel down and greased everything with anti corrosion lubricant. So far the reel has been on three trips in the Louisiana marsh and has caught too many trout to count and a few hard fighting redfish. So far everything seems to be holding up well.

Well I have been using these reels all summer now and wanted to write my review. Overall I am pleased with these reels. I purchased 2 of them and both of them are exactly the same. They spin great and the auto anti-reverse is great. No spin back on the reel. The overall construction is good. The action of the bail is good. The only problem I have with the reels is that the chrome plated handles that are on there are both peeling and corroding. Now I do fish salt water, but after every trip, all equipment gets rinsed off with fresh tap water.

The handle feels really cheaply made. The whole reel feels like it would break. But you know what? It handles like a champ. I paired it with my med-heavy Berkley rod, put runcl braided line on the reel and put it to the test. I used it for saltwater fishing, and it really handled everything I threw at it. Pulled in 2lb fish, no problem, snags, no problem. Fish after fish after fish, it was awesome. I would definitely buy again. I can't say how long this reel will last, but, with the regular care I usually do, I feel like it will last a long time. Wow. Awesome. Love it.

I am not a big fan of spinning reels in general, but I know there are certain applications I have to have them for. So,I'm not spending too much money on it, But, I am pretty impressed with this reel. It feels really solid and the drag is stout. I also like the push button to collapse the handle. Overall it seems like a great reel.

For the price, I cannot believe the quality of this reel. It is really cool looking too! I bought the 1500 model and put 12 lb. braided line on it. I cannot believe how far the line travels with just a flick of the wrist. I love the fact that this reel has instant anti-reverse for setting the hook. As soon as that bail goes closed, there is zero reverse movement. I am now considering other weights of this same model.

I've fished this reel heavily in rivers for salmon over the last few months. No problems with large coho and chinook, down to small native trout. Spooled with 30lb braided line and a 12lb leader and it runs great. I fish in the rain and the reel has been dunked in the river a few times during crossings and still running smoothly and catching fish. Very impressed with how smooth this reel is for the price. I will be looking at higher quality models from KastKing in the future.

This reel, which is my second KastKing, is a blast! Light, good line capacity, high speed retrieve, and comfortable to use. Smooth as butter and will cast a country mile with a light lure. Drag is premium to boot! The only thing that gives me a problem is that they bail arm is hard to close if it gets out of position and the bail has to be closed by hand. That being said, most anglers close the bail by hand as a normal operation.

They aren't top of the line but are very good quality reels. These centron reels feel just as good as they do. They cast as good, real as good and feel just as smooth. I'm not saying these are the best reels ever made but they are the absolute best reel you can buy for under $60 imo. The only possible points I see not lasting as long

I have used the KastKing baitcasting reel before they were solid and smooth, this is my first spinning reels from Kastking. I have taken the reels out a couple times salt water fishing. It might not be a good idea, I wash my reels everytime but the salt water seems to affect the performance of the reel. Bottom line, reel is smooth, cast alright with my 25LB braided line. Hope it will hold up my abuse with salt water sneakhead fishing!

A Great Reel for the money , well built , smooth operation ! I used the 2000 model for trout fishing in the mountains of NC. and caught several 1 lb 6oz Rainbows including one Nice 2lb 2oz Rainbow on this Reel , it worked like a clock ! Thanks KingCast for a well made Reel ! Hopefully with proper cleaning and maintenance it will last for years to come !

I've thus far purchased two of these reels and have been very satisfied: they're strong, smooth, functionally crisp, and beautiful to behold. My single complaint is that I accidentally sat one of my rod/reels down on a sandy bank to contend with a feisty smally that needed dispatching: that reel is still smooth, but has been an ongoing process to thoroughly clean out all the sand.

Bought the the 1500 reel for my saltwater ultra light set up and so far it works like a beast. Have brought in some big snapper,redfish and cat fish and the drag is amazing on this reel, never slipped or gave me any problems. Reels smooth, casts smooth and super light weight, this is my first KastKing reel, bought mainly because of the price and customer ratings and I will for sure be a returning customer.
