I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The 5/6 rod casts well with a fast action and the case is light and reasonably well made. The reel I was able to switch to left hand retrieve and has a good drag although it is plastic and is a bit too flexible when retrieving line. All in all a good rod and case for packing into remote spots. Probably won't use the flies. and the reel will be given away in favor of an aluminum one with extra spools. the kit as a whole would be fine as a starter outfit.
