Last week I was impressed by the effectiveness of the kit. The kit is compact and lightweight and should fit easily in a pocket of most outdoors clothing. It is housed in a box that feels strong and durable, contains the kit securely and even has a small amount of free space for additional items. The kit includes an efficient ferrocerium rod and striker, a telescoping tube to blow through for enhancing the temperature of embers to promote or rekindle a fire, a pencil sharpener, and 2 types of tinder – jute tinder sticks and waxed wooden dowels.

Bought for my other half who enjoys things like this. She was delighted to start a small fire using only this item and some dry twigs and moss. Great success and can see it coming in useful for camping or hiking if you have no other ways of starting a fire. Works well when you hold it the right way round. Top tip: make some tinder from cotton wool balls smeared with vaseline. Catches fire very quickly, much better than leaves..

While looking for primitive fire starting kits, I purchased a few from other vendors and they were mediocre at best. This fire starting tin set is really good in my opinion, well worth the money. The size is perfect for convenient storage in a pocket, bag, car, or motorcycle. It is small enough to carry everyday, well built and has features that allow it to be cleaned and enhance the function. I'm pleased with that. Good buy, good price, and I'm definitely pleased with this purchase.

Great products to add to my camping kit. Compact and lightweight it fits int any of my pockets in my bag or my pocket with the added belt loop i can attach it anywere. Great little kit it makes fire lightning easy no more smoke into my eyes.I take every opportunity to light a fire with this kit (eg when I have a working lighter in my pocket) and have not yet resorted to the lighter. All in all a well thought out and usable package. Impressed !

I wasn't sure how to use this at first but after watching some video's on Youtube, i figured it out and it works very well. it will ignite the small pile and start a small fire provided you have chosen a suitable kindling. It takes some practice but once you know how, you can get a fire going fairly easy. You would be able to start a lot of fires with this if you got the knack. Also the whistle is a hand addition as well. Great to have as part of a survival kit.

I'm very pleased with this product and I'll try to make my review as short as possible. The rod is a great quality rod, made softer so it throws more sparks, and the included striker/bottle opener gets the job done very well. The twine was a good starter but I think it would be a better idea to add more wax to it so that it burns longer. This is a very well put together fire kit, Everything you would need in a clinch situation to get a fire started.

The price of this product is very good, the accessories are very big, if you are used to it, the ignition rate will rise rapidly.My cockroaches stop and apply pressure at the deepest point when pushing in. When the reaction force returns, the piston is pulled out and the igniter is in contact with fresh oxygen. The ignition rate has now increased.

This product was designed for the use of starting fires in the wild, and it does so very well! The piston is very well made. It comes with extra lube for the rings, more than enough to fulfill all your fire starting needs, and plenty of extra rings. The provided fire starting tinder was very good quality and went up without effort, when introduced to the ember from the provided charred cloth.
