My first impression is that this music box is homey and not flashy. The base is pure wood without any paint. The crystal ball is simple and very charming. This music box looks modern and not dated. The light emits through the globe and projects to the ceiling to a beautiful pattern. It can be used as a light alone without playing music. That is a big plus. The globe can be removed and replaced with other crystal balls or to make the light more bright.

The wood base rests on a single slender metal pole connecting it to the round disc used to wind the mechanism. The weight of the crystal ball causes the whole base to tilt and wobble as it rotates. I tried two of them before I realized it was never going to work. This is just a bad design.
