I havn't done anything with my firmware, it flies so very well with out changing anything so I'm sorry I can't answer you question. If you email Hubsan.com, they have great customer support i'm sure they can answer that ??? :)) Good luck and enjoy this great Drone (one of the best in my mind :))) )

They all work and change color based on the condition the craft is in, like flashing all red, batteries low, yellow in front, returning to home, etc etc, side note best drone I've ever had, just came back from flying in 20mph winds, gps hold makes that possible with no problems

Knock on wood, but I have never lost control on this drone. I never really fly more than 400 meters away though.

It comes ready to fly - not sure if the software is up to date or not. But it works. I have not found a way to update the software/firmware. Maybe someone else who has had a different experience can comment. I tried to find updates to fix the camera date. All recordings show up as five years old and on the same day (June 1 2012) and there does not appear to be a way to change this. But it flies, flies well and has an amazing camera. One tip - Make SURE you wait until you have at least 6 satellites locked before flying it (takes about 5 minutes for me) if you want GPS hold and Return to Home to work. see less

My boyfriend got this for his birthday. We love it all! It's the first drone we've ever flown, and it's relatively easy to control once you get used to it. Flying in the wind may be a bit difficult, but I think this is a fair assumption for most drones. There is no chance to use the camera yet, but this is the next one in our list. Only 4 stars are provided for the remote control. Not sure if this is limited to the one we received, but we are now putting the brand new battery 3 times and it only gives us 1 bar of battery, so it lasts about 1-2 flights.

Everything is normal and it is easy to fly. My flight distance is up to 121 meters (400 feet), no problem, I have already flown to 400 meters (1320 feet) still under control, there are some breakups on the FPV monitor, the average flight time is about 18 minutes. . After 3 weeks, the charger stopped working and I had to buy a replacement. Overall this is a very good mid-priced quad-core, it's a good upgrade to see if FPV flight is right for you.

The 501s is a good four-wheeled helicopter. This is not without some problems, but none of them are transaction breakers. The 501s has the same problems as other Hubsan four-wheeled helicopters, lacking a permanent setting. The settings are reset each time the controller is turned off and back on. The decoration, compass and flight style must be redone before each flight. The camera has no stability. However, in this price range, four-wheeled helicopters should not expect such a function. The worst problem I have encountered is the return to family function. I tested it a few times before and it works fine. Unfortunately, the last time the drone flew away, thankfully was stopped by a tree. This proves how difficult the 501s is.

I have a lot of quadcopters, this is my second with GPS and FPV. Absolutely the easiest to fly, with excellent GPS-based position retention and height retention. However, as the pricing of the Phantom Standard III declines, I want to know its scope of application. Having integrated controls and a video screen is a real advantage. Also, the camera is integrated into the body to make it look cleaner. The brushless direct drive motor makes the flying drone very powerful - at the same time it is quieter than other drones, using wire drawing, direct drive motors or geared motors. Although it is a bit cumbersome to calibrate the compass before each flight, the GPS hold and height keep working very well, I think at least the GPS keeps a good compass calibration, so I am fine. The video quality is actually very good - not as good as an isolated camera, but much better than the other quads of a directly mounted camera. Excellent video - some jelly, but overall better than expected. I attribute this to a 30 FPS frame rate and lower vibration from motors and props. The resolution of the .MOV file is 10P, but somehow it looks lower than this res. FPV hysteresis is almost non-existent - FPV quality is also very good. Flying with FPV can be tricky because you can only see so much - if the quad moves into the wind you will see too much down and not forward enough. Compact battery, but acceptable - I have some quads, you have to squeeze the battery or the connector so hard, you will definitely have something that will rupture. Here are the nits that reduce the quadrilateral to 4 stars: - Lack of real landing gear - Even landing in short grasses often flips the quadrilateral as the props grab the grass. - Each piece of rubber at the bottom is easy to come out - I have lost one landing on our deck (luckily found it) - Video recording does not seem to record sound - unfortunately. I shot some videos with drones - Amazon's videos are usually very bad so I mirrored them on YouTube - just search for "YRWU12345 Hubsan H501s"
