The title says X5C-1 but the image of the white one is the X5C. I just ordered two of these and am going to return them if they are not the X5C-1 model. Can anyone confirm that the white one is the updated X5C-1?

It appears nothing is different except the props. The colorful props don't seem as durable though.

My son ordered this for me for Father's Day. I like it! It is light durable, agile and has fairly good video quality. Controls are easy to manage; with very little quad copter experience, I was maneuvering this thing quickly through the house with ease. Mode 1 keeps it fairly docile, mode 2 increases maneuverability quite a bit and it does manage light winds pretty well. Quite durable with the prop guards in place. Video is good in daylight or with lights on. Grainy in dim light. I've not shot any video at night. Careful not to descend too quickly or you will get caught up in your turbulence and have a rapid fall to the ground even at full power. Video gets a little wavy in winds or in spirited maneuvers. Range is limited; I'd say 50 yards or so, maybe a little further. Unit comes with 1 battery, it lasts about 7 minutes and takes about an hour and 15 minutes to recharge, so I recommend purchasing multiple batteries and a rapid charger or multi charger. This quad is great for beginners, maybe a little limited for more experienced users. Does not have a return home feature. Make sure if you're flying outdoors you are in a large wide open area and on the upwind side of the field when flying... a football field is too small if you're a beginner... This is a great quad copter for the money.

Once you figure out how to fly it. Its a lot more fun . Took me a while to find answers on the web. The book that comes with it does not tell you half of how to fly and get it so you can control the thing. I found this video online that help me finally get it where i had control...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhLMbq3LkrM .So if this is your first drone..I would do a lot of homework and look up anything you can on this..Also learn to start off on low not high..Learn all the buttons and mode 1 and 2. Still learning I just got this a week ago and just now got it in control. Took some pictures and video they were very good . Still learning about that too. So more homework for me....Over all not bad would give 5 stars if they would had more information in the book ...also do order extra batteries, They just last about 7 mins before you have to charge it. They did come with extra blades found mine 3 days later on the bottom of package after ordering more..but so far did not have to change them even after 20 crashes and stuck in trees. This thing is very durable...Have fun good luck..

Fun! Much better than the first one I bought which wasn't this brand. Found out that one was a knock off of this one. That one was defective right out of the box. Bummer on Christmas morning. Flew helicopters before and you knew front to back so controlling it was a gimmie. My first quad and I'm still working the control input without the obvious picture of theres the front turn that way. Bad news is I also ordered multi battery packs which still haven't arrived after over a month and they still don't show as being shipped yet even though they twice now have said this date then this date and today no date. WWWHHHAAATTT!

I can't say enough about this drone. I'm not a tech guy at all by no means so if I can fly it and keep from tearing it up it means something. It,s easy to operate, easy to sync up, great drone to learn on. It,s pretty tough I've bumped it into a few limbs, chased my dogs and one of them caught it and blade it didn't even scratch him, the drone didn't break, prop didn't even get messed up. Now the camera is a little grainy but better than I thought it would be for the price. I don't like giving 5 stars for anything but this drone is right there. You'll have a blast with it

This little drone is awesome. It is light, portable, and very very easy to fly. I am completely new to drones or anything remote controlled and I can fly this thing easily indoors and outdoors. It can take a LOT of crashes too, especially with the prop guards on. The only problem it has while flying is that if it's windy this drone is so light that it will easily get pushed by the wind, and it also automatically drifts backwards because it is front weighted from the camera. So it can't just hover in the air, you constantly have to push it forward a tiny bit to keep it straight. I never really use it to hover though, so it's not really an issue for me. I got this to practice flying a drone and taking video, and I knew this camera wouldn't be good enough quality for actual photography so I have the x8c as well attached to a 4k action camera, but MAN the camera on this thing sucks. Again, I didn't have high expectations and I only use this for practice, but honestly. It says the camera on the x5c shoots in HD! It does not at all, the video is very grainy and dark. Also, the sounds of the drone flying is so loud that you can't hear anything in the video. I've shot video of my sister yelling into it and it just sounds like mumbling, you cannot distinguish words. Thats the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars, other than the crappy camera which is supposed to be "HD" this drone is awesome and I love it. Very easy to fly, user friendly, stands a lot of crashes, and just really fun!

Bought this for my 30 something son for Christmas. He really likes it and thought it was alot more expensive than it was (so did my husband who paid for it but was pleasantly surprised to find out the real price). My son took to it right away and is still having fun with it. I did think that the materials were a little flimsy and was weary when I noticed so many spare propellars but so far he hasn't need to use them. He says it's better to practise inside the house first than to let it get away from him outside the first few times. My husband was truly surprised that the camera came with this model and said he might want to try one. I think that I might by this for another adult but wouldn't trust my grandkids with it.

For the price, this is a great little quadcopter. My son got it as a first drone and I bought the JJRC H31 on sale to fly with him. The X5C-1 has a bigger battery (7200mah) and more power in the motors. I like the H31 a lot - (very durable) but the X5C-1 is a superior flier in my opinion. It lasts longer than the H31 due to the battery, and it is quite fast. My son has gotten very good with it. Flips are effortless and you can combine flips with flying stunts easier than the H31. The only thing he has broken on it is the battery cover (small tab came off) and the power switch broke off on an impact. We can still use a small screwdriver to turn it on and off. It has taken quite a few crashes and it keeps on flying - and flying well. I have run it into trees, and the house (accidentally) and my son doesn't bat an eye. It is very durable. As a first drone used to learn how to fly, it is a fun and recommended unit. If it were slightly more durable (plastic battery cover, power switch) I would give it 5 stars. I almost gave it 5 anyway. A great little unit.

This quadcopter/drone is a TON of fun to fly. I have flown it indoors a bunch and outdoors twice. Don't let the price fool you, this thing can get WAY up in the air. I am still learning to fly it, so I installed the propeller guards which makes the drone that much more durable. I have hit walls, ceilings, and other obstacles - and all I need to do is apply the trim to get her flying right again. Definitely buy it online, I have seen this EXACT device for three times as much in the mall. One thing I read in the blogs is that the more expensive the drone, the easier it is to fly (GPS, waypoints, target tracking, obstacle avoidance, etc.). This is not an expensive drone. However, I am having fun learning all the same.

I have a 1 acre back yard surrounded by tall trees. About an hour ago I apparently exceeded the range limit. The drone is sitting in one of those trees. Maybe in the fall when all the leaves are gone, I'll see it. The thing works really well, just keep it within about 30 yards max from the controller. It is really durable for as light as it is. It is also the perfect trainer for teaching yourself how to maneuver at various headings, since it has no headless mode. For example when it is pointed at you, you push the control to the left to move the drone to your right. They say you should not fly this outside unless there is no wind. Here again, it is a good trainer for flying in light winds. I'll agree, it is too light for strong gusty winds, but on days where the winds are, say, less than 5 knots, the drone can handle them once you learn how to react. All in all, for the money, this thing is way more useful for learning how to fly drones than other products costing 2,3, or 4 times as much. I got some extra batteries. The thing only flies for about 6 minutes with the camera on.

It says to fly in calm conditions but on dual rates (high maneuverability, gotten by hitting top left button on transmitter til it beeps twice; one beep is stock and single rates for less maneuverability), it can go 25 mph. It's a blast fighting a 20 mph wind. Keep it in front of the wind and away from trees and other obstructions. It's very crash resistant and the best plane I've flown out of many others. It's at least as easy to fly at night as in daylight due to the lights. Tips: 1. make the transmitter show on its screen it's in mode 2 so you can fly it more easily (stock is mode 1; to switch to mode 2, push lower right trim tab to the right as you turn on transmitter; following assumes you're in mode 2) 2. keep the green lights pointed toward you pretty much at all times by moving right stick right or left to rotate quad. The brighter green lights are easier to see at a distance, and with green lights showing, remember "left is left and right is right," i.e. left stick left moves quad left, and left stick right moves quad right. Also, remember "green come to papa" meaning if you see green, quad will come to you if you pull the right stick back toward you, and quad will move away from you if you move right stick forward, away from you.

This thing is all kinds of fun. I've flown it about a dozen times since receiving it and I keep wanting to fly. Battery life is short, but that is to be expected from such a small capacity battery. I'd advise buying at least one extra to keep flying. The range is fine for what it is really considered a toy. I've had it close to 100' up and have only had one signal issue. It was a brief loss but everything went right back to normal once the quad dropped a little. The lights make figuring out which way you're pointing the camera pretty easy unless you're looking into the sun. In that case, you can't see anything. The controls are fairly smooth. I've not played with the loop buttons, but I'll probably get around to it sooner or later. Take your time learning to fly if you have no RC experience. You'll wish you did if it winds up in a tree or on a roof. My flying skills are improving, but I swear I feel like this thing was attracted to trees at first. I'd say this is a great stepping stone for those interested in a higher-end quad. Crash this one, not a $500 one. It also came with spare props for when you break one or two.

Got this as a gift. My first drone and super easy to fly. Very responsive but not overly so. I painted the front props to make it easier to orient forward movement. Couldn't recommend a better drone for someone just learning the fun of flying drones. **Update** - I've had this drone for about two weeks now and love it even more. I've put it in two trees and have luckily managed to get it back. Not the drones fault, completely my fault. This thing is pretty durable as I used a football to get it down from one tree and it has taken hard landing after hard landing from flights with the kids at the controls. All in all I would highly recommend this drone to anyone looking for a solid, beginner drone.

Christmas day, Boy-o gets his new drone stuck 80 feet up in a tree. Five days later, we manage to get it down. I recommend purchasing a slingshot and some 1 oz weights with this item (I am assuming you have a fishing pole). Five days, three of which were heavy rain, being shaken with the branch it was stuck on, then tumbling to the earth, striking the tree nine or ten times on the way down. Once retrieved, we put in the spare battery we'd purchased. Perfect picture, good video, no need to replace the blades. The only issue was that it wanted to fly backwards, which my son fixed with a simple adjustment from the controller. I've bought a lot of RC items for my sons over the years; this is the only one that was worth the money.

So, I'm completely new to the quad flying thing, this thing is awesome. Very easy to learn on, once you figure out the controls. A couple times outside I took it up beyond my comfort level ( got some great pictures) when I felt it was getting away from me I killed the throttle and let it fall back to the ground at about 100 feet I throttled back up to full recovery, no issues, complete control again. As far as durability, fantastic, I've bounced this thing off of everything possible (trees, kids, walls, ceiling fan, cars, roof and 1 very moody harrier hound...) had it stuck in a tree over night, threw a football and knocked it down, new battery and it was good to go. Only knock against this thing is battery life, buy the 4 600mh batteries and charger for them and enjoy, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.......

It was challenging to fly once you are no longer facing the original direction (I could never fully get my head around it), but it was great fun while it lasted. It was pretty cool to fly it right at me and catch it out of the air with my hand. Because it's light-weight plastic it's pretty resilient and endured all manner of smacks and falls. Unfortunately I got it stuck in a tree, and when I went back the next day to retrieve it, someone had stolen it, but it was fun for several weeks. It drove my dog nuts when I would buzz around his head. I mainly got this one to practice getting comfortable with a drone before ordering a nice one to use for videos, and although I wish I hadn't lost it, I think it accomplished that purpose. I expect to order a higher-quality one before long.

This drone was pretty difficult to get used to. I did love the lights that lit up the entire drone though. Just remember you cannot fly drones at night!! Pros: - Lightweight. - Good camera! - Flies fairly smoothly. May need a few adjustments though... Cons: - It was difficult to figure out how to install the battery. I wasn't pushing it up far enough so it kept getting stuck. - Flashing lights promote night flying. Bad idea. Against the law as far as I know. - Only has an extremely limited flight time (This is ALL drones, so this isn't a design limitation.) - Camera isn't great, but it works! Overall, I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. I'd call this 3.5 stars if I could. It's a fun drone, but not for me.

Cool quadcopter. This was my first, and the price was super appealing seeing as it has a camera and a controller. Also included is a SD card for the camera and an SD card to USB reader. There is also an additional set of rotors, bumpers for the rotors, and landing gear. The actual quadcopter is made out of a pretty thin and flexible material, making it strong. The durability of this thing is nuts! I actually lost it in a tree about a year ago, and it sat up there for about a week - it endured 2 thunderstorms before coming down, and it still works great! The stock motors could run faster, but I think they are limited by their construction - I have since upgraded the motors myself (easy if you know a little bit about electronics and soldering), and upgraded to a higher capacity battery to help alleviate the higher power consumption of the new motors.

For the price, this is great. My husband hasn't stopped playing with it since Christmas. He needed quite a bit of practice before he could really navigate it, but that was a fun challenge for him. He has taken photos and videos all over our neighborhood. He said it's really durable but he ordered extra replacement blades for future - it falls pretty hard when it falls! He also ordered extra battery packs so he can go beyond the 7 minutes of the original battery included. I would really recommend this for any geek of toys & electronics, boy or man!

My husband LOVES this. Only problem is it's stuck 100 ft up in a tree right now. His recommendation.. It doesn't have the best control when too far out of range. Keep it within a safe range.. He took it up very high.. and then it lost range.. and kept going in the direction it last had the signal to go (up) and went into tree. He won't use it in a large field again, trying to get it as high as he can.. Lost range. He loves it though, and bought another one. Also recently it needed 'recallabrated'.. Watched You Tube video and it works great again!

Okay, this will be my second order for the X5C-1 Quad. Even though I've flown many types of planes in the past, this is a different animal all together. By the way, this is not a toy in spite of what it says on various posts. I just flew mine into the woods never to be seen again about an hour ago. I started getting cocky and that is a bad thing to do with this quad. The Syma X5C is one of the best quads on the market. I've tried 4 others only to send them back. This beats all the other I've flown due to its smooth flight, ease of control and a pretty long battery life. You do need extra batteries though. My advice is to read the manual and practice many times before you go above 40 or 50 feet and that's flying in an open field. The hardest thing to learn for me is turning the quad 90 or 180 degrees.
