    Got the Boafeng UV-5R in operation for about 3 weeks. Operation and programming with or without computer no problem. However, the raports for the modulation are all negative. Just too quiet. Otherwise, a cheap and decent device.

    Description in English, in "reset all" is the language only Chinese, who has no experience with afu Hfgs, rather stay away from it.

    The device now works reliably for over a year. The only thing I have to complain about is the charger, which obviously only loads properly when the battery is completely discharged and that was not a programming cable in the scope of delivery.

    Attention for these devices a radio license is required! Also, the wireless service can be a quick places if you use it unlicensed funks. So be careful, or maybe a CB radio? That was not clear, I now listen now and then, it works.

    The price-performance ratio is certainly unsurpassed. The shortcomings of the barely suppressed harmonics and the need to get used to have been pointed out several times. Let's hope that a possible successor model again has high-frequency spectral purity.

    ..by the things. The UV5r in the original version is to my taste the most beautiful of the optics. Technically, I noticed the 5r Plus from the Qualette series as something better. The known Squelch problem is not quite as dramatic in the Qualette series. However, the squelch cracked when connected speakers or Speakermike. There is one setting that matters, menu item 7 "TDR" - should be set to "ON". If there are still problems with the reception on direct frequencies you can still select the same frequency or the same memory on both VFOs. Then it works in any case. Addendum: Meanwhile, there are devices that come from recent production and have fewer errors. One recognizes the on the pictures already at the supplied antenna. A few euros more are not the problem either.

    Do not want to be rude, just make my review public. I liked the compact and robust design and the long battery life. Very reasonably priced. Flashlight, FM radio.Great Freqenzberich. Did not like the manual. The gewonhnungsbedürftige operation? The reception is not optimal compared to other FM devices. (rustling, disturbing compared to my other receivers.) The program should be quieter than usual.

    On of the most popular hand held - and there is a reason for that. While programming is tedious to say the least, for the rest, it does the job. If you intend to use it seriously (ie use more than 5 channels), get the programming cable and head to [...] to download the free programming software Chirp - it will save you hours of frustration
