Q

does this pedal work well for ambient type swells??

A
  • No, not really. It's a VERY simple analog delay. Nothing fancy here. Just turn a knob for the amount of delay and set the delay timing. It's basically used to give an organic delay at a very cheap price. That's the advantage. It's surprisingly good, although I've only had mine for a few months. I can't speak for the durability, but that's the chance I took. I bought three of these for less than $100 to use in my pedal board. So far, so good. see less

Q

Does it work with power supply? I saw some comments on youtube that said this pedal doesn't work with power supply and it works with batteries only.

A
  • I'm pretty sure that you have to use a battery. Unless they updated it. It sounds amazing but it definitely goes through batteries

Generally, I believe you get what you pay for. In the case of the Joyo JF-33 you get a little more. The price is impossible to beat for the sound. It's not a true analog delay, but it is an excellent digital recreation. It's not quite as warm and colorful as an actual analog delay, but if you want (controlable) delay feedback that mutates and sings forever and a widely variable delay time, it's got that. You can whip the delay time back and forth to divebomb the pitch of the feedback repeats or turn it the other way and send it screaming to the heavens. It's also in a sturdy metal case, which I did not expect. The bad: -It's very noisy. It introduces a lot of hum into your signal chain when activated, even before you play through it. -It's unusable with batteries. You can technically power it off batteries, but none of the features work properly, or they only do for a couple minutes before everything just gets short and crunchy in a bad way. I don't know if this is a defect or if it just devours batteries at an absurd rate. Definitely plan on using AC power if you get this pedal. -Plastic washer on foot switch. This hasn't broken yet, but from experience with every other pedal with a plastic washer on the switch, it's only a matter of time before you stomp the button into the enclosure. It's a very cheap and easy fix, but I recommend replacing this ASAP. All in all though, it's more (simulated)analog delay than you'll find for the price anywhere else.

I was certainly suspicious of a true Analog delay pedal of such a low cost, if it was going to perform up to certain expectations and I tell you it may not be as dependable and perform as smoothly as a Maxon or Ibanez AD9 but it was dam well very good and well worth the money! Don't expect the world but even if it was 15 more it would still be worth it. I purchased a number of the Joyo Pedals and have not tried all of them yet but will soon and I will more than likely do some YouTube reviews on them.

Nothing fancy, but works as expected and sounds good. The build is solid. Looks like some people have had problems, but mine works just fine. I don't notice a significant tone variation when active, but I tend to keep the level very low. The way I use it, I like to set it with a fairly long delay time and a medium number of repeats, but at very low level. Then I do the same with a second analog delay (the Biyang AD-10, which is also a good value), but with the second one I use just a tiny bit faster delay time (or slower) than the first pedal. The result is a sort of quiet, flanging reverb in the background that I keep on almost all the time. Sounds great. Verdict: a solid basic analog delay. Nothing fancy. Analog goodness. Nice size. Has true bypass. Useful controls. Good build quality. Great price.

This is the Fourth Joyo pedal I have purchased and, for the money spent they are all hard to beat. I have them all on my pedal board along with some other brand pedals that I own and, they are quiet, sound Great, and, the bang for the buck is unmatched by any other pedals. You cannot beat the price of these pedals, period. I would not hesitate to recommend a Joyo pedal to anyone. There are differences out there in brands and, in quality but, I'll definately tell you that when I kick any of the joyo pedals I have into use I am not dissappointed! If I was they would off my board and, gone for good.

So far the pedal sounds pretty good, especially for it's price. It also has true bypass, which his nice. I figured the casing would have been a little sturdier, though, it feels almost like hardened plastic.

Good pedal for the price. Not comparable to mxr carbon copy, but does the job. Quiet , no hum or noise. Has good range , and plenty of desirable sound choices. Case seems to be built well. Can beat the price. I have a range of different brands of pedals. Would def. consider more joyo products. Imagine having a full set of needed pedals from joyo for under $150.00.
