Q

Does this provide enough power to the guitar to really get the most out of your pickups? I know they don't require a lot of current but some is needed

A
  • Electro magnetic pickups create their own alternating current which is what is magnified by amps. These provide no current to the pickups just transmit frequencies to amp. They work really well at that. I can play my guitar on main floor of house and it transmits successfully to amp in basement.

Q

Could I install ion batteries in this unit?

A
  • That's a tough one cause the instructions I have says to "use AAA Batteries" and that's it. It says nothing else about any other kind of batteries. I would call and talk to a place like Guitar Center or Sweetwater (online).

Q

Does does come with a charger?

A
  • Nope. Uses regular batteries. You can use rechargeable ones if you want. My experience is that the transmitter uses much more than the receiver. However it feels they both eat up a lot of juice.

Q

Will the amp receiver transmit to wireless headphones?

A
  • I haven't had any luck pairing the individual pieces to other Bluetooth devices. If you have 1/4" jack in your headset probably you could plug in the receiver dongle and transmit sound from the transmitter dongle...

Q

Do I plug one end in my guitar and the other in my amp and its a cordless "cord" that hooks up my guitar to my amp?

A
  • Yes, Transmitter to Guitar, and Receiver to input jack on AMP and you pair them. No cord. It even works if you have a pedal board (transmitter to guitar, receiver to first pedal) Though you would need cable from pedals to AMP in that scenario.

Q

Will this work with a acoustic guitar?

A
  • If the acoustic guitar has a 1/4" output jack the answer is yes.

Q

Will this work with a bass guitar?

A
  • I suppose so. I don't have a bass guitar but the transmitter transmits what the pickup picks up and the receiver sends it to the amp so there should be no difference. I don't know the range of frequencies of a bass guitar but you can compare that to the specs. It should have a wide range.

These worked well but it's too early to speak on battery life. I am satisfied with the range one can play away from the pa unit. I think it was still picking up at around twenty feet away in the house which is good enough for a church service.

Works great for a guitar, but I highly recommend getting an extension cable (3ft/1m) to plug in on each one.. Allowing you to place the units out of harms way. This way you can put the transmitter in your back pocket, and hide it from the audience, plus avoid accidentally hitting it. I use the other to hang the receiver over the front of my amp instead of leaving it sticking out of the input jack. Range is decent, but I occasionally get some static interference when walking around, if something is between you and the receiver. This is nothing any of the other (more expensive) vhf units don't also do. If you are a professional who is making a living playing on stage, your probably going to want a uhf setup instead, as they tend to have less interference and cross-channel traffic, but for us who play for the love of the art, and those on a budget, this is a great way to ditch your cable nightmares.

I've tried a few different brands of wireless guitar devices but never felt they were any good. A friend let me try his Ammoon bug on my bass guitar and I was really amazed at their transparency. That night I ordered a set for myself. My friend said the batteries would only last about 3 hours so I bought some rechargeable batteries and a smart charger. My first experience showed the transmitter batteries needed replacing after 2 1/2 hours but the receiver batteries were still strong. BTW each device takes 3 AAA batteries. The other thing to consider is there is no warranty provided. For the money you can't find a better value. I gave 4 stars because of no warranty.

It works. However, I don't think the advertised 30 ft range works although I have no need for that distance. Also it drains the batteries fast so I needed many AAA batteries on stand by.
