Questions & Answers
Dude no. This is to put into a guitar, to hook the guitar up to an amp or a recording device. At this point you should probably put down the weed.

Randy, I have installed several of these and they are great! Belcat has specs on their website for the LC-4, but not the LC-5. Here's the link: http://belcat.com/html/products/preamp/pdf/PRENER-LC.pdf

The amplifier with equalization works when the tuner is turned off. The on/off button is used just for the tuner.

You have to take the strings off, take the saddle out, drill a small hole in the inside at the end. You need to drill at about a 30 dagree angle. Then feed the wire through the hole and plug it in. You're going to have to shave the saddle down so it won't be sitting up so high and make your guitar hard to play. I put my strings back on and shaved the bridge down a little then tightened the strings and saw how it felt. I then loosened the strings slid the bridge out, shaved a little more then slid it back in and tightened the strings again and tested. I had to do it several times until it felt right. You can google how to install apiezo pickup on an accoustic guitar and probably find something. I installed it on 2 guitars and they both turned out good. Hope this helps..... Joe see less

Can't say, but since you are creating a triad I would imagine it'll work. I just use it for vocals

So after reading all the other comments about the piezo under saddle pickup having poor sound quality I opted to buy this AXL external piezo pickup ( and splice the wires into the jack part of the wire for the original UST piezo. That part worked like a charm. The problem I'm having (and I'm hoping it's just user error and someone can help me out with this) is that the tuner constantly is on and makes my sound cut in and out. Since the AXL piezo doesn't need to be powered, instead of loosing sound completely I'm just getting amped beautiful sound to non-amped thin sound with a pop in between due to the EQ muting and then un-muting when the tuner goes off. I've tried everything to turn it off. Cycling through the options with the "Note" button only give auto-chroma, manl-chroma, auto guitar, and manl guitar (before starting back over at auto-chroma). I was able to find an online manual for the 4-band Prener EQ, but I have been unable to locate the manual for the 5-band EQ. The manual for the 4-band said that if the "Tuner" button (which on the diagram must be the button labled "Note", since there wasn't a diagramed button labled "Tuner") wasn't pressed in the span of two minutes then the tuner would turn off. Well I tried that with this EQ and, yep you guessed it, it doesn't work. I'm thoroughly frustrated with this whole ordeal since I spent an entire day taking my time with the install so as to make it perfect (which it is), but only to have this happen. Like I said, it would be nice to find out this is user error after putting so much time into it, but as of right now I'm thinking my EQ is defective. Of course I have no way of knowing if I'm using the EQ wrong since it didn't come with a manual and there is no manual online for the thing. I guess that's what I get for going the cheap route. Should've just saved up the money and bought a new guitbox :( EDIT 05/07/15: After playing my guitar some more with the EQ visibly off, I can attest that the EQ is still EQing. I'm upping my original rating from 2 stars to 4. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I wish the EQ had the full bodied tone it has when the tuner is on, even when it is not. When the EQ is on there is a beautiful and full tone coming from my guitar. When it's off there is a slight loss in tonal quality which is just marginal enough to be disappointing. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because for $15 bucks this EQ really can't be beat. And it's still a step up from the 2-band passive EQ that came in my guitar. I have just as good, if not better tone, with this EQ as I did with my old one and most importantly enough this EQ doesn't have any horrible buzzing when plugged into a PA like my old EQ did. It does the job for now :)

Works great and installed easily with my Dremel (be VERY patient! I snapped 2 cutting wheels from trying to go too fast! It will take some time and you may even have to let your power tool cool off), calipers, and a few other tools. I was a dummy however, and failed to place the unit against the EDGE of the guitar to line it up with the contour before laying down my painter's tape and transferring the caliper measurements, so my unit sticks out a bit awkwardly. It isn't too noticeable and my guitar still fits into my hard case without issue. The pickup itself is a bit thick, so I had to sand off a significant amount of my bridge to accommodate without increasing the string height to ridiculous proportions. The screen is nice and bright! I use a rechargeable lithium ion battery and the life is great even if you forget the tuner on. My only complaints are that the low string doesn't seem to pickup on the tuner without plucking the string VERY violently, the tuner is not the most accurate (although it is chromatic, so you can keep it on as you play to learn your notes!), and the output is a bit harsh on the high end (luckily you can turn down the high and presence to easily compensate). For the price, you cannot go wrong. It also matches my custom black and red top guitar :) I would gladly buy another, and most likely will if I, a friend, or a student get a guitar without built-in electronics.

The preamp is a little bright for my taste and I have the bass and midrange all the way up. Otherwise, it sounds great and the tuner is spot on. I thought the pickup was a little thick so I used a Martin thin line that I already had. I did not want to mill the saddle slot so I opted for a thinner pickup. I had already filed the saddle as low as I could. Just a note, if you watch some you tube videos on installing one of these, please take my advice and drill first for the screw holes! My many years of woodworking experience said do so, but I took the advice of the guy in the video who said "no need to drill since the screws are so small. I Split my guitar side! I was so careful to insure I cut the hole exactly and I missed the elementary thing. It was my fault since I know better. Not blaming the guy in the video. He took his time to share some excellant ideas. I am sharing my advice to get a small bit a drill first. After gluing up the side, I drilled the holes and all is well. My guitar sides may have been much thinner than most. Gave it four stars since I felt the preamp didn't have a lot of range.

This is a great little Preamp Pickup & Tuner and a great addition to my old beat up guitar. PROS: -Easy to install -Great deep bass -Durable built CONS: -You need to download a template in order to install. I used this one: [...] Be aware that the template is NOT the same size, it is slightly SMALLER. Not a big deal though, if you are handy with your oscillating tool. -Lacks the highs -Tuner takes a while to identify the notes. Overall, this is a great pre amp for the price! I would recommend this for someone looking for a nice affordable upgrade for an old guitar you got lying around. If you have a high end guitar, and need a replacement, this would not be it. However, for the price it is an awesome little tuner and pre amp.

This is a great product at a great price. I installed this in my son's acoustic guitar. Its fairly easy to install and sounds fantastic. It does not come with a template or instructions. A template would have made it much easier, but still not that difficult. The wiring harnesses are a no brainer. The pickup, power supply, and equalizer plug in to each other. Again, it sounds great. The equalizer slide controls are smoothe. The guitar sounds clean without any noise or feedback. I recommend this to anyone who wants to turn their acoustic into an electric acoustic. Its a great product at a great price.

Works very well. The tuner is doesn't have the best resolution, meaning it has a relatively wide band of frequency shift before the indicator needle moves. You can get a green LED indicating a perfect tuning, but be slightly above or below ideal. It's not terrible, it let's a beginner get close but it will need a touch of fine tuning by ear to get a really pleasing G chord etc. The piezo pickup is amazingly sensitive and has no gain differential between strings like some of the earlier models. The preamp works well and overall the it produces an excellent signal and tone with no noticeable frequency dropouts. The preamp is noise free and does not interfere with a digital modeling amp or digital noise gates. The hardware, cable, control and amp unit are good quality. Installation does mean cutting two holes in your guitar that must be within a millimeter accuracy to avoid having an exposed gap. Not for a beginner DIY. A paper template trim template and profile template to help match contour would be nice. Overall an excellent product for the money.

This product is excellent for the price. I do not recommend the average person try to put this in an acoustic yourself unless you are very skilled. It is possible to do yourself... I did it. But you can very easily mess up your guitar. I have had it in my guitar for about a year and it works good except I can't keep the 9v battery in constantly or else it will die in a few days. I just put the battery in when I need it and take it out when I don't.
