Q

Can this do real choppy square shaped tremolo? think radiohead "planet telex" or r.e.m. "what's the frequency kenneth?"

A
  • Check for online demo Dominic. I have one, but I only use mine on a couple of setting -- much to my satisfaction.

I expected this pedal to be wild and noisy, but I did not expect it to be so versatile. I have used it as a gnarly distortion, a fuzz pedal, and a milder overdrive (a biting alternative to my beloved Tube Screamer). It can do wild and noisy, but only when I want it to! Between the "Turbo" and "Vintage" modes and the distortion and volume controls, there is a surprisingly stunning spectrum of fun to be had.

mooer black secret is a great sounding rat clone. i use vintage and about 10 oclock setting for drive and stack a sugardrive in front of it.with a small amount of drive set....and i think i like it better than my pinnacle deluxe, never thought to be possible...the way i set it is a full hard rock distortion, no more distortion needed...

Great RAT pedal. The filter control works just like the original.. for $50 it’s a no brainer. Nice build quality. Low noise. Turbo Rat as well... tons of gain in that position.

I love this thing. I've had two different rats which I regretfully sold a long time ago. Also recently I've tried a muff pedal. Wasn't for me. I love the sound of the black secret. I'm running a telecaster into a AC30 and I needed some extra dirt. This thing deliveres. The price is right and the size it great for my board. Recommend.

Very impressed!! Truly amazed at how great this little pedal sounds. Two amazing Rat pedals in one for $40!!! Thought I was gonna like the vintage the best, the turbo is my favorite... Man I hope this lasts because I really love it!!

Been using a late 90s rat since the late 90's haha put this on my board before the gig last night and kept being surprised when i looked down and my RAT wasn't there. dead nuts on in a live rock and roll setting.

I freaking love this pedal! It is my new go-to when looking for warm rocking distortion. I play 60s-90s rock and this pedal sounds terrific. Definitely a great clone to the Rat.

I gig with this pedal several times a week with The Pine Box Dwellers. I use it with my lap steel. I use the vintage setting, treble all the way up, and gain at about 9 o'clock, which isnt very dirty. It makes my lap steel growl!

I haven't used a Rat in person to compare directly, but I do like this pedal for distortion. It has a nice range of sounds

I’m not going to say it’s versatile but if you want a Rat style pedal to do all forms of hard rock from Zeppelin to Sabbath to Purple to Motley to Metallica to Green Day to the Smashing Pumpkins then you’ve found it.
