Questions & Answers
the controller functions are all seven colors steady then fading and cycling colors, and then on/off flashing in colors. if you switch it to be a decoder with an external controller, you can do whatever you want and whatever your controller can do. Basic presets are very minimal

Works as described. Wiring the LED strip was easy enough (4 wires, R, G, B, and White connectivity, remember this is the 3 channel version. If you need one that supports actual white LED, then you need the 4 channel one). I do wish they would just use a standard DC port for the power, instead of making you wire it. I use this for mobile DJ work, so packing it up when the LED strip and the power supply have to be attached like this, is inconvenient. Note: I was upgrading this previous purchase, so I had the LED strip and Power already. B00JP6LAPE For power, I just cut the end off, stripped it and wired it in. It was easy, as the inside of the cable was black and red, so it was easy to identify the positive and negative. I'm happy overall. Like I said, I wish it had a power plug, instead of hard wired. The dip switches seem a little flimsy too, so I need to be careful how I transport it. They might not break, but they could easily get moved to incorrect positions. I also wish it was smaller. Seems a little bigger than it needs to be. I should point out, that these are all pretty similar. Some only have Cat5 ports instead of DMX (xlr) ports, so you would need a special cable for that. This one has both. I prefer to stick to all DMX (XLR).

This is my review for the Lixada 5M RGB LED Strip. WHAT YOU GET IN THE BOX : You get 1 RGB LED strip, one power brick, one LED controller, one LED controller controller, and an instruction manual. BUILD QUALITY : I am VERY impressed with the build quality of this product. The RGB has a thick silicon coating, that will make it much more durable in the long run, and would likely make it much more resistant to the elements. The box and power brick are just plastic but I expect nothing more, and the controller is good. Great job on the build quality! FUNCTIONALITY : These are perfect, except with one big gripe. The LED strip is very bright and frankly gorgeous, and the silicon coating helps better diffuse the light, giving a more consistent glow rather than the segmented glow some other strips suffer from. The controller works good and there is a good amount of customization. My main gripe with this, and by far the biggest flaw IMO, is that there is no adhesive on the back! This is something I had definitely come to expect on an RGB strip, I had planned on putting this on the back of my desk for cool lighting, but now this will be much more of a hassle, because I have to deal with zip ties and such. OVERALL : Overall, I would recommend this RGB strip. These are obviously meant to be used outside or other places to where they would be subjected to harsh conditions, and this is why I assume they didn't bother putting adhesive on the back, but I still would've really appreciated it being there, or at least a note somewhere on the page.

Whoever wrote the user manual for this product had a very poor grasp of English. I have read through the reviews and questions and there is a fair amount of misinformation and misunderstanding of the subjects related to the operation of this device. I purchased one of these DMX decoders to test an LED lighting controller that I have been developing over the past several months. Its target customer base is filmmakers. Because I will be using this device in my development I would like to provide a mini user manual for this product since the one that came with the device was so poorly written. I will add to this review as I learn more about it. On the back of the unit is a 6-position termination block. Proceeding from left to right, the 1st contact is Ground (labeled V-) and the 2nd is Power (labeled V+). This powers both the unit and provides power to the LEDs via the other four terminals. This unit can use DC power from +12V to +24V so make sure that you supply the voltage that is needed by the LED load you intend to connect to the unit. The 3rd terminal position is labeled COM and it is presumably internally connected to the V+ terminal. The last three pins labeled CH1, CH2 and CH3 are drain pins for each of three lines of LEDs. Standard RGB LED strands have a flaw in the design of their connectors in that all of the channels share the power pin while each color has its own ground pin. Since each contact in the terminal block has a limited current rating, the amount of power that this unit can supply will be limited by the COM pin since it must supply all power that is drained by the combined channel pins CH1, CH2 and CH3. On the left side of the "front" of the unit is a 10-position bank of DIP switches. In all of these switches, the DOWN position is considered to be ON while the UP position is considered to be OFF. The position of switch 10 determines the meaning of the other nine switches. When OFF the positions 1~9 are used to specify the device's DMX bus address. The value that each position contributes to the bus address is 2 ^ (N-1) where N is the switch position.
