Yes, this meter does a splendid job with DC current measurements. Just make sure you zero it before each DC current measurement holding the meter in the same position it will be when it is clamped around your conductor -- earth's magnetic field is thereby zeroed out before measurement. .

No. It has three ranges 2A, 20A,100A, both DC and AC.

My unit died after only one use. Since it was out of warranty when it failed to turn on I inspected the insides and there was no solder or assembly issues so it must be a component early life failure which would be a function of component failure rate (i.e. cheap components) or from a bad lot (poor in-process QC) so an inspection sticker would not necessarily provide much increased confidence in the unit/brand. My suggestion would be to test it often while it is still under warranty assuming you knew where to obtain warranty help. see less

The buzzer beeps indicate how strong the non-contact voltage is. One beep is about 100V AC and more beeps mean higher voltage range however their instructions don't show what these levels are.

Absolutely. lt is one of the primary uses of this instrument. Just turn rotary switch first to the 20A setting to turn it on. You are on the AC 20A with 00.00 on LCD display with "AC" at upper left. It is one of the few meters I actually carry at the plant I work at for electrical troubleshooting, it has been one of the best purchases for me, I was pleased with it. It does come with two leads that are of pretty good quality, so no voltage it wont read at the clamp but the accuracy is quality. see less

So rare that a product is worth it's weight in value, let alone 5 gold stars. The test leads are identical to the one you'd find @ a big box store like HD, for $18 by itself. Cat2. Wish they were a little better quality. But the meter itself, very easy to use. Works well and I found it to be accurate. It's holding up better than my voltcraft meter which fell and amp clamp quit working. That is best feature of this meter. The amp clamp. And it's size, easy to use and clear to zero function. Lots of YouTubers use this meter.

Food value for the money. I use to checkrear current on cars when battery is going dead, so I use it for DC amps only. I find that readings will change of wire or cable is touching the inside of the clamp, so it is important to be sure to check readings and settings. It must be manually set to measure DC amps. Default setting is AC.

I actually took the time to measure how accurate the meter measured dc amps. The accuracy is more than adequate for measuring automotive current draw. Expect to zero the meter often when using the low end of the 2 amp range. It is also necessary to select dc every time you change scale. The magnetic environment of the meter will affect the reading. I was impressed with the accuracy vs cost. If greater accuracy is required a multimeter connected in series could be used. These type measurements are time consuming and more apt to damage a multimeter.

Very nice instrument. Accurate and all the functions you could want. Good ergonomics, easy to operate with one hand. NOTE: the DC AMPS range uses a Hall Effect device to measure the static magnetic field around a (single!) wire carrying a DC current (won't work on zip cord, twisted pair, etc). For small currents (a few mA) the field due to the current is of the same order as the Earth's magnetic field, so measurements are likely to be affected by the position of the instrument, stray magnetic fields, etc. This is why you need to push the ZERO button before making a DC current measurement. The convenience of not having to open the circuit to make a DC current measurement often outweighs the stray fields problem. I would buy it again.

For cheap electricity meters made in China, this price is impressive. For home players like me, this is perfect. It is used to detect device voltage leakage (thermal leakage and ignition in cfci circuits). This is a huge leak (5A), so no problem. If you have a leak... I don't know if this meter can appeal to you.

This is an awesome tool to have if you need to do some troubleshooting on electrical issues but can't shell out the money for a fluke meter. I use this for troubleshooting wiring issues in my car and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. I would highly recommend getting a set of precision test leads too. I do a lot of wrenching on cars, trucks, and motorcycles for my own use or friends and family, and I'm very happy with the quality and functionality of this multimeter.
